A year ago, my mother added me as an authorized user on her Citi credit card. There have been a lot of positive factors aside from this, but my credit score has jumped from 575 to 626 in the past 10 months (possibly less).
My question is, given that my name has been on this card/account for a year now, could I approach Citi about getting my own line of credit? Will they be more favorable to me because I've been an AU on this account or does it not matter at all?
Thank you!
My husband added me to his Citi card two years ago.
Last year, they started doing soft pulls on me every month through Experian.
Last month, I received a pre-approval offer for their Platinum Select card with 0% transfer etc, then a 14.99% interest rate. I didn't apply as we don't need two of the same cards in my household.
From my own experience, when they're ready, they'll send you an offer.
For me, I wouldn't waste an inquiry on my report unless I was pretty sure I could get it.
citi sent me 2 pre-approvals in the same week & denied me for both.

And there goes my theory.
