Hello, maybe it's a little silly question but I got approved for my 1St American express card (Blue Cash preferred) with a starting credit limit of 16,000, five months later I applied for the Everyday card and to my surprise I only got a starting credit limit of 1,000. my question is, if I transfer 5,000 to the Everyday card, and then ask for a 3X CLI in 90 days, will the increase be off my transferred CL? Or the original starting limit of 1,000? probably a dumb question but I am new to the credit game.

Thanks
I was in the same spot as you very recently and here's how it went down: Approved for Delta Gold 9/2019 at $1,000. Approved for 3X on the Delta card 2/2020 bringing it to $3,000. Applied and approved for BCP 5/2020 with SL of $2,000, immediately moved $2,000 more from the Delta to the BCP bringing it to $4,000 before it even arrived in the mail. Applied for 3X CLI 8/2020 which was the combination of the SL they gave me PLUS the extra amount I had transferred from my other card and was approved for the full amount bringing my BCP to $12,000. So to answer the question, yes, you can request the full amount including what you transferred over. Good luck, and let us know how it goes for further DPs on that process.
I don't understand why you don't cli the 16k card to 28k then move the limits... but I guess that's just me.
Thank you for the information much appreciated.
@Anonymous food for thought...Thanks

Since your latest approval is for a small limit, it may be that your aggregate internal limit with AMEX is approaching a ceiling.
What month was the BCP approval? Looking to see if it is prior to the pandemic.
16k for a sl on an Amex is an amazing approval and not very common for first card. Getting 1k on next card seems to indicate that you are about close to exposure Amex is comfortable in giving right now. I would experiment in 90 days with your 1k card to see if you get it to 3k. If not, transfer limits snd try again in 3 months. Just an idea though
As to original question though, the 3x try would correlate to actual limit of card you use in request.
@NRB525 I was approved for the BCP in May 2020. My Transunion fico score 8, 814 at the time of approval. $110,000 annual salary, I am assuming this was the reason for the higher credit limit.
