Re: Question on Comenity CLI’s

On my J Crew card it’s been a weird 60-10 pattern. A CLI every sixty days followed by another just ten days later, and then the pattern repeats. I’ve taken the card’s limit from $750 to $6050 in fifteen months.

On my Sportsman’s Guide Visa I started with a $4500 limit. Six months later I received a paltry $250 CLI but since then I’ve received $800 increases every four months like clockwork.

I’ve never received a hard pull from Comenity for any CLI. However, if you get an offer for a card through the SCT and deny it, be careful. They’ll often send you snail mail reiterating that you’ve been preapproved. If you accept the offer then it’ll be a hard pull through Equifax.

Re: Question on Comenity CLI’s

Ok now that’s some info I needed right there. I got an offer from Pier 1 and I just closed the page because that would have been my 3rd comenity Card in a week and I didn’t want to raise a red flag. Just like you mentioned, they sent me a letter saying I was Pre-Approved. I had no idea it would end up a HP. I would have been so mad.

Re: Question on Comenity CLI’s

Totally been there. Without these forums I would’ve taken a HP for the Williams Sonoma Visa.

Comenity sometimes gets a bum rap on here, and not always without justification, but they’ve always been very fair with me. They were the first lender to offer me a preapproved card after I totally crashed and burned my file. A dumb little GameStop card with a dopey $250 limit back in November of ‘16.  But I was able to rebuild my file and eventually get better cards from a wide variety of lenders. And that dumb little card grew to $3000 too.

Great job rebuilding those scores!

Re: Question on Comenity CLI’s

Thanks! I’m in the process of buying a house so I can’t apply for any cards right now. So at this moment I’m just reading about which should be my first prime card. I’m reading about Cap One Quicksilver, Amex and discover it. Just reading all the posts so I’m fully aware of all the pitfalls.

Re: Question on Comenity CLI’s

Just keep trying.

Took my overstock from $250 to $1850 and wayfair from $750 to $2250

I try every few weeks sometimes rejection sometimes an increase except with my express and vs cards which have never been increased (all opened at the same time)
