Questions about app'ing for new cards and CLIs...

Ok, I have some questions for the community-

If you have, say, an Amex card, and you want a different Amex card AND you want a CLI on your current Amex card, is there a preferred order/method to achieving that? Which way works best? Thanks, friends!

Re: Questions about app'ing for new cards and CLIs...

I would always start with the soft inquiry first.  AmEx does soft inquiries for new cards now, but most do not.

So for example, if you were going to attempt a CLI via soft inquiry (Discover, CapOne, Citi, AmEx, Synch) and open a new card other than AmEx with a hard inquiry, I would do the CLI first.  If you were going to open a new AmEx card via soft inquiry and wanted to do a hard inquiry CLI (Barclay, Chase) then I would do the new AmEx card first.  If you want to request a CLI on an AmEx, and a new card with AmEx, then I'm not sure if there's a preferred order.

I don't think it matters.
