Quicksilver vs Quicksilver One?

Considering a QS for my husband as his first major cc. His scores are around 632. If we apply for the QS and he is not approved, will they automatically offer a QS1 if he is eligible, or would that have to be a separate app? Obviously we'd rather have the QS but I am wondering which one we should apply for.

Thanks!

Re: Quicksilver vs Quicksilver One?

If he is denied for the Quicksilver they will not automatically offer the QS1, it will be a denial and you would have to app again for the QS1 on a different triple HP. Have you checked the pre-aqual on the Cap One site ? Usually pretty solid. Without knowing anything else about your DH's profile, I would suggest trying for the QS1. Most likely will be a lower SL but he will be enrolled in credit steps which will auto CLI with responsible use in the first 6 months. QS1 has a $39 annual fee but you might be able to PC it to the QS later on with positive and responsible use. Good luck to you !!

Re: Quicksilver vs Quicksilver One?

With scores around 632 your safer applying for a QS 1 as opposed to QS. Aside from the AF your looking at the same rewards structure so it doesn't really matter what card you get, what matters is establishing credit and treating the card right and they will reward you, soon you'll be picking any card you want not just what you can get, best of luck.

Re: Quicksilver vs Quicksilver One?

I was approved for a QS1 of $3,000 in July 2016 with FICO scores in the low 640's. I have made multiple payments since that time (Never paid in full), and have a current balance of $2,800. I called CS a couple of days ago about another issue, and they offered me an upgrade choice of the QS or Venture One. I chose the QS. The only issue is I don't get the current sign up bonus and I wasn't able to switch from QS1 Mastercard to QS Visa (I wanted to switch to use Visa at Costco). The CS rep told me I would have to cold app for the QS in order to change from Mastercard to Visa. Frustrating, but still worth it. They also refunded my QS1 annual fee since I just paid it (I had to request it though). So, maybe you should go for the QS1 and hope you are offered an upgrade in the near future. Good luck!

Re: Quicksilver vs Quicksilver One?

My GF has a 599 EQ and has a 7k QS.  Not hard to get the QS with some good (and bad) history.

Re: Quicksilver vs Quicksilver One?

I have a 681-EQ, 697-TU, 698-EX. 1 collection for $47 PIF. 1-30 day late but somehow it's reporting as 3- 30 day lates. Do you think i'd be approved? my oldest account is 12.5 years. newest is 3.5 years. AAoA is 3.9 years.

FICO 8 Scores: EX 706 (11/3/2016) EQ 696 (11/17/16) TU 708 (11/17/2016)

Re: Quicksilver vs Quicksilver One?

you answer is here : https://findmycard.capitalone.com

you can leave off everything on your sig but the F8 scores you get from cct, ck is worthless score wise and the other is redundant.  just my .02

Edit:  clean up the 3 - 30 day lates, if its incorrect it should be pretty easy.   this is partly what is holding your scores down.  my .03 lol

Re: Quicksilver vs Quicksilver One?

Both cards offer the same rewards. The only difference is that the qs1 is more a rebuilder card. And has an annual fee. And it is a MasterCard not a visa like the regular quicksilver. If you want to play it safe go for the qs1. Remember that capital one triple pulls. So if you were to apply for the regular quicksilver you'd have to apply again if denied.

Its all just a gamble. If you feel confident enough go for the visa.

Re: Quicksilver vs Quicksilver One?

Thanks Bourgogne. I am sending a couple GW letters. I only hav 1-30 day late, CCT is reporting 3, as it is counting my 2 old collections that are PIF as 30 days late each. Can't believe all these reporting sites aren't on the same page as the CRA', it's quite absurd.
