Keep it if there is no AF. It's not useless if it helps out your AAoA. I was thinking about cancelling mine but kept it because they've treated me well (their EO is the best). Because of this, I try to avoid the "Screw it, I don't need them anymore" attitude. I've had a love/hate relationship with Cap1 but we're still "together" :-)
Not referring to you, but I noticed that there's a tendency for people to love Cap1 during the building/rebuilding process, then hate on them when their credit is much better.
Agree with what the others are as well. Wait till you get the Email about Document for your account which will tell you why if you didnt get the increase as well as your score they went by.
If for some reason you dont get it i am sure the EO will be able to help you out .
FWIW... I got 2 cards in April 2011 (or was it 2012?). One was Orchard $500 limit which transitioned to Cap One of course. The other was a Cap One credit steps $300 limit with a $200 CLI at 6 months. This was after burning Cap One on 2 cards in 2008 when I became unemployed.
The Cap One card granted a $2000 credit steps increase at 6 months despite limited usage (Orchard had better cash back).
Fast forward to February... Both cards had carried balances all year, Orchard was PIF and charged up pretty much every 2 weeks, Cap One was pretty much stagnant within $75 or so of it's limit.
I paid off both cards with my tax refund in mid Feb and proceeded to pay numerous small past due medical bills with the Cap One card, using the Orchard for daily expenses.
Earlier this week, Cap One was at about $2100 of it's $2300 limit, Orchard was at $250 of it's $500 limit... payday next week to hit balances with.
I decided to take a chance and try requesting a CLI on the $2300 card... in a move that still shocks me, I was granted a $3000 increase instantly.
Card #2 (formerly Orchard)... I figured if I got one, maybe I would get another... $500 CLI instantly.
I went from $2800 combined CL on both Cap One cards to $6300 combined CL... and my scores are in the 620-640 range at present. I do have 4 years of flawless credit history on the 2 CC as well as 2 store cards (one with a $630 balance out of a $1000 CL), and an auto loan with $15000 remaining out of the original $22000. My total gross income has increased since I first got the cards and it at $49k annually (including wages, child support, etc). I have 2 paid collections (the 2 previous cards mentioned), and one current open medical collections (which was paid with the first round).
I'm thinking that maybe it was my increased income, heavy usage, and spotless payment history on the cards in question that allowed the CLI while maybe your lates are holding it back? Certainly can't be scores or income... yours are higher than mine.
Sounds like I'll find out one way or another in the next few days. If it's a crappy increase or a flat out no, I will contact the EO.
Either way, I'll update this thread once I hear something....
Thx everyone!

Just a warning - I tried a CLI through the website, and 2 days later I got a message in my account online. Like others who have posted in these forums, I was denied because I hadn't used the card in a few months - but mine was at a $500 limit, too. Good luck!
im at 1000$ limit after 1 year 6 months with them. They seem to be super uptight. ![]()

I believe this is truer regarding people who utilize these kinds of forums. There are people I know that do not have the slightest idea about AAoA, inquiries, CLI's, gardening or any of the topics discussed here. When they get their first Cap1 with that $300-$500 CL, they are overjoyed, and don't even know that CL grow at any expected rate. Especially when we read posts that ABC poster got XYZ CLI, is when our, "Well where's mine," mentality kicks in. I started with Cap1 with the $500 to $750 Credit Steps Program, and was happy. As soon as I joined myFICO and read about EO success...away I went...lol.
So I got the denial letter late Friday afternoon. It basically said my type of card wasn't eligible for an CLI. Huh? They also listed a score from several months ago (probably the last time they SP'ed me).
Anyway I decided to contact Cap One via Facebook and explained the situation and what I was looking for. Got a response from them within 10 minutes saying they would review my file and get back to me shortly. I didn't expect to hear anything until this week as it was already Friday evening when they responded. But I was hoping to hear something back either Monday or today and so far...nada.
Does it normally take them a few days to respond? I was thinking I'd give it until tomorrow or Thursday to write back again. What's the normal turn around time for Cap One EO? Should I send an e-mail, rather than going through FB?
Thx!
