Rebuilding and apping is very addictive.

Can I share my story with you? I've always known credit was very important though I didn't understand how things were calculated. I've had my share of charge offs, late payments, collections, tax liens and even BK.
I've only had a Cap1 Platinum MasterCard for about 5 months with a low $300 limit.
So with that being said, my wife was online booking some plane tickets for an upcoming trip. She was on American Airlines website and came across an offer for the Citi AAadvantage. Not thinking I'd get approved she applied for it. Approved! For $2100 sl. I was very surprised. So I thought to myself "go for another". Applied for a discover it and approved for $1800. Wow, again in awe. So I inquired about a CLI on my capital one Platinum. Increase of $500! Do I go for another card?? You bet i did. Cap1 Qs1 with only a $500 limit but it's a start. I had to try for one more. Citi double cash -- denied. My balloon was popped. So I tried for a couple store cards. Kohls approved me for $300 and Amazon store card for $600. I went from a $300 credit line to $6100 within a couple weeks. Scores were in the low to mid 600's when applying for all these. Util on my capital1 platinum was around 40% with using and paying more than the min each month. Oh and when I called Cap1 they offered to upgrade the platinum to another Qs1! Anyway there is a lot of great info here! Now I think I'll be off to the garden. Lol

Re: Rebuilding and apping is very addictive.

Hi,

First and foremost congratulations to you!

I am so jealous of your acquisition of Discover Card?  Was it you or your wife that got the Discover It Card?

I know you stated that your scores were low to mid 600's.

I ask because Discover and Amex Blue Everyday are my most conveted cards.

I want a Discover card sooooo bad that I can't seem to hit the submit button.  I feel like someone that is crushing so bad on someone that I cant muster the courage to ask them out.  (PS Im a girl though).

My scores are: Equifax 611  Experian 679   TransUnion 658 From  Equifax Complete™

My Vantages scores are slightly higher.

I was on as authorized user and the utilization was 102% - Iv'e been fighting to get them all to fix their calculations... and Equifax is killing me.

Im now removed as Authorized User but the same acocunt shows 2 late pays w/the over Credit Max as erroneously still my debt.  Even though clearly states on the a Reports I was an Authorized User and not responsible.   I was solely put on for when I went a way last year and needed CC with good Credit Limit.  Also for when the person needed me to use their card to make purchases while incapacitated.

So again Im jealous.  I will attempt when my Equifax moves more. ..

If I knew what they pulled etc I might be brave like you.

But Im have Discover Terror.... Im scared and yet I need 1 more Bank card to make my 3rd to garden and grow.

Ciao

Congratulations on your successes and now it is time to garden and use those cards well. You are on the path to financial freedom if you make good choices. Again, congratulations!(edited for spelling)

Speed..

You.. Sir.. Really need to spend some quality time in the garden...

There is benadryl avalible for that itch.....

Long as you pay everything on time and such... these seeds are destined to grow.... I predict in 4+ months you might see some fruit from Cap 1...

Something involving CLI's on the Cap One cards.. or requesting them at that time... ... Then might want to consider merging the cards for a larger line on one card..

(you want the increases on the separate lines BEFORE merging)...

Also may want to consider asking for a CLI on the Amazon Store card in 4-6 months.. Not sure about the Kohls.....

Leave the Citi cobranded card alone for a bit.. you might be able to ask for a CLI in.. (yes... 6 months)..

All of these you only want SOFT PULLS on.. but grow them and let your scores rise... ..

id wait a half year, even more before going for a new card.. Let those cards become established....

Re: Rebuilding and apping is very addictive.

One the paperwork with the card it shows that they pulled Equifax at a 647. Now I know that number will drop as soon as everything hits but I'm hoping it's not by much with all the increased credit lines. And if it does drop, oh well for now. That's what gardening is for. I know I have no major purchases coming up any time soon so what better time. And Bella, it was just me that was approved. jolt, yes the idea is to use them and basically PIF every month. And I will be taking that Benadryl, lol. Thanks!

@BellaLina I was approved for discover last week, I live in wv and they pulled experian and it was 645. I was approved for $2000 Sl. I applied back in 11/15 and was flat out denied! Not even offered the secured version or joint application.

Congrats op for approvals!!!!

Re: Rebuilding and apping is very addictive.

The drop may be more than you think. but it will rebound in a few months.......

Trust me. I panicked when I saw the "Thin File Drop"  recently.....

Don't Panic

Not sure how accurate it is yet.. but been told that drop usually bounced back in 3+ months...

So hanging out with some of the folks of this forum and letting things marinate.... has more than a few goals...

=)

And I got a scant 2500 with a score in the mid 700s...

But Discover is very bipolar....
