Restaurant 5% card?

Are there any MC/Visa that give 5% back on restaurants?

I know the closest one would be Chase AARP at 3%, and Cash+ USED to offer it.

Thanks!

Edit: Forgot to mention: No rotating cat. cards, or buying gift cards.

Nope. Best you can do is AARP at 3%, Huntington Voice 3%, Cash+ 2% on restaurants 5% on fast food. There's a Power Rewards (or something) with I think 3% on dining but that's geographically limited.

There's a lack of any really great dining card but sadly I think they just aren't sustainable at high reward percentages. Since I get 2% with double cash on everything, and currently have 2% restaurants selected on my Cash+, I"m not opening a new account for an extra 1%. The AARP would be literally only used for dining, and even if I were to spend $200 a month, an extra 1% is only $2 more vs a 2% card...not worth it. Point is, if you already have something for 2%, there's likely no point.

Re: Restaurant 5% card?

Discover categories...chase categories....

Why not buy restaurant gift cards from grocery coded store, use Salliemae, BC, BCP, ED,EDP?

I always use coupons for restaurants...from Belly, or restaurant.com, grubhub, seamless, etc. Amex offers has lots of deals, like 10 off 30 at chilis.

I also used the free $10 credit several times with setting up amex checkout, got a few $10 applebees gift cards at new egg.

Then my current routine now is run whatever is leftover through my PRG as its earning 2 MR points per dollar spent. MR points on avg are worth 2 cents a point...so thats a 4 percent return not to mention the coupons stacked....

Basically my goal when dining out, never buy drinks, always drink water, that way when I am in the mood for a real drink, its not a big deal....always leave 15-25% gratuity based on original cost of bill before any discounts.  It wasnt until recently that I started leaving gratuity on cards.

Re: Restaurant 5% card?

If you value UR or MR at 2cents per point then PRG and CSP are 4% back. Freedom and Discover use it as a rotating 5% category but not all the time.

How do you like your marukai JCB card? do you find yourself earning the 3 percent or do you reach for your double cash more bc they dont take discover?

Re: Restaurant 5% card?

I haven't reached the 3% tier yet because I just got it in July, but it's accepted at my main unbonused spend spots (target, best buy, walgreens, bed bath & beyond, square payments) so I should have no problem. Discover acceptance is good enough and a lot of them take JCB explicitly.

I like the card and the phone customer service, but the website is very inconvenient and the app process was very slow.

I do use double cash for utilities because none of them recognize JCB, even the ones who take Discover. It's not inconvenient since those are autopays.

http://www.doctorofcredit.com/credit-cards/cash-back/marukai-premium-jcb-card-review/ The chart in this website says you have to spend over $20k to get close to 3%...does this look correct?

if my scores were higher and I lived in one of their states, I would consider it.  I just wish they didnt have geographical limitations...seems strange...
