Rewards Card

I recently took out a $28k SoFi personal loan and paid off all my credit cards, except I left a couple thousand dollars on my Discover card so I'm not at 0% utilization. My scores today are 739/740/743 and I expect them to increase nicely after my new balances report.

I've always used my debit card, as has my husband, for our day to day purchases but I'm starting to think of getting a new card to use everyday and PIF each month. I'd like to earn some travel rewards and take a nice trip with my family. Are there any cards that anyone can recommend where I don't need to use the rewards the same year? I'm guessing I'd put a couple thousand in the card each month, more if I can figure out how to pay my mortgage with it.

Re: Rewards Card

Plastiq is a nice way to do that.  I've used them before, although there is a fee to do this.  Can't remember at the moment how much, but I think it's the only way to do this, at least the easiest.  I love using them.

Plastiq does charge a fee which is normally more than what would be earned in rewards from a card. Besides possibly using it to finish getting a sign-up bonus, the extra charges kinda out weight the rewards. If I remember correctly the fee is about 2.5-3% of what you use Plastiq for

Re: Rewards Card

I'm more interested in the travel rewards than I am in paying my mortgage with a card.

Re: Rewards Card

What type of spend would you put on the card? Where do you travel? What airlines do you use? More info could only help Smiley Happy

Re: Rewards Card

I have no preference for any airline. Travel would be domestic. Most of the spend would be grocery, gas stations, bills such as cell phones, and just misc. items that come up. My husband spends a lot at ski resorts, but locally. I don't spend much on travel now. My daughter, who is 8, really wants to go to NYC. I'm not much into that but if I could do it with points, I'd do it.

Re: Rewards Card

Which is why I only use it to meet spend.

PS Didn't quote.  This was a response to dieseldog.
