This is madness lol My Sapphire applicatiobn on 08/25 came back with a 30 day pending notice. I called on 08/26 and was transferred to the verification department the representative gave me the option to walk into a local branch and have the banker verify my photo ID. Went to the branch on 08/27 and the banker calls the verification department who asks him to fax over my ID, passport copy and copy of my current Freedom card. I called today to make sure the documents were received and the representative (very apologetic and courteous) said I'm sorry but all the banker needed to do was call us and verify your identity in the branch over the phone with us using this #800-XXX-XXXX. I said ma'am so your telling me that all this could have been resolved with a phone call? She says absolutely once he verifies your identity we ask you to come on the line and answer a few security questions and thats it. I said ok and how long after answering correctly would I know the status of my application? She said your application has already been set aside for approval this is all we need and you would receive the card within 7-10 days from the phone verification. So thats AWESOME news but geez..........a lot going on for this approval. Back to Chase!
Good day all

by the way did you get csp or regular chase sapphire ? No worries Any other wish list cards you are planning on getting ?
Regular Sapphire. There are 7 other cards on my list but two - three are kind of back ups in case I dont get approved for my first choice. I'm pretty anti AF I dont relish the thought of paying for the privilege to use a piece of plastic Except the Jetblue card bc thats my favorite airline so I can deal with the AF. Not applying for anything until at least January! Promise
American Express JetBlue
Discover It Chrome
American Express Blue Cash Everyday
Capital One BuyPower World Elite MasterCard
Citibank ThankYou Preferred Visa
Chase Sapphire Visa - Woohoo!
Bank of America Cash Rewards (WWF) Visa
Barclaycard Arrival World MasterCard

out of curiousity why the regular Chase sapphire is it just for 2x on restaurants. I think there are much better options for dining. At the very least i would have gone for CSP and see how you liked it for first year , then downgrade to CS if you didn't like. CS you can't transfer to airline and hotel partners :-( There are an bunch of interesting cards on your list. If you don't mind me asking why did you choose the BCE BOA cash rewards and TYP?
I kind of wanted to apply for CSP but there were two things that made me hesitant. One - I thought I might have better approval odds with the regular based on my credit scores and history, Two - I would likely not remember to downgrade before the AF hits and then I'd have to go through calling customer service to try and negotiate when it would be totally my own error. It is definitely just for the 2x on restaurants I spend about $300 a month at least eating out. TYP was the only card Citi had that was even slightly interesting to me and its one of those meh I dont absolutely need it but I go out to theaters, games and shows quite a bit so I thought that the entertainment option was cool and it would be nice to build a relationship with them. BCE and BofA cards are similar. I'd prefer the BCE bc I spend a lot more on groceries than gas but I figured the BofA would be a decent back up if I get a denial and I like that a portion of the proceeds goes toward helping animals There are far better cards than those on my list I'm sure but I research things to death (usually) and for what I need these work for me.

So we have to ask, why not the Sallie Mae for gas and groceries.
Well BCE in BOA in general if your spending isn't that high per month SM beats it every day of the week. 5% on gas and groceries with 250 cap per month, in addition to having 5% on amazon with 750 cap per month. Thats actually probably the next card i will be getting.
In general as restaurants card CS doesn't really do it for me. If you plan on saving those UR points you are getting from freedom and CS to eventually upgrade to CSP or one of the ink cards so you can get some good value when transferring to airline and hotels partners. If thats not the case for me personally would just go for fid amex since its 2% on everything. There is also the option of cash+ from US bank but they can be pretty conservative, so not sure what your credit looks like it could be difficulut to be approved.
Just a few options to keep in mind :-)
