Sams Club

Another quite night so I visit the Sams Club  site. Our Sams Club  card is a ploc card not the mc.  I ask for an increase and got it now over $5K.  Will this roll auto in a mc or do I have to wait 6 months and ask?

Re: Sams Club

Had mine at 25k and it never became a MC, but with time they could possibly convert it..

Re: Sams Club

There's not a limit you have to reach to "upgrade" with Synch.  I think the chances have increased over the last couple of months though with the rumblings we've seen around here with some WM upgrades coming in April.  Just hold tight on your PLCC for a little while and see if you get a letter for an upgrade.  If you're wanting to convert though the only other way to do it is to apply for the MC when you're sure your scores are high enough to pass UW.  The downside is if they still don't think you should have a MC you could end up w/ 2 PLCC's.  The upside of the apply to upgrade option is you CAN keep BOTH cards and increase your buffer.  I went through this a couple of years ago with them when they were still GEMB and apped for the Discover at the time and they gave me $4200 when my PLCC was at 10K.  Within a matter of a couple of months it boosted to 10K like the other one w/o any issue.  Since rewards were better than no rewards I SD'd the card and it went dormant for ~23 months and they ended up closing down the PLCC at that point.  No problem with that though I added 2 new cards to make up the 10K loss AMEX (10K) and Discover ($4500).  So, 150% of what was lost and they have grown to a combined 98K today.

I fought with GE/Synch though on the MC to get them to budge from 10K for a couple of years when it was evident my approval criteria had significantly changed for the better and stumbled upon their overseas Credit Solutions number on a couple of threads and thought what the hell I'll give it one last shot and asked for 30K and they countered for 25K.  Took it and ran with it.

I guess the short version would be no, they don't auto upgrade and you can app for it outright.

+1

FWIW my Sam's Club MC was approved with a SL of $1500.  It grew quickly, though... before it was a year old I got it to $20k.

As a data point, my approval was likely by the 'skin of my teeth'... my TU was 710ish at the time.

I'm hoping for my friends with the PLCC that Synchrony will do upgrades eventually, similar to how they are doing now with the Wal-Mart cards.  If you don't want to wait you can also app for it separately... I would suggest waiting until your TU is north of 720 for the best chance of approval, although some like myself have been approved with slightly lower scores (YMMV).  Smiley Happy

Re: Sams Club

I got mine with 680 FICO Score, but I did received an invitation from them.
My Walmart card is going to be upgraded to MC version in couple of months! May be they do the same for Sams Card.
