Sapphire Preferred want Reserved

I recently got the CSP but feel I should've gotten the CSR. Is there a pathway to do that without waiting a year. Can I just apply and have both cards or do I need to downgrade the CSP?

No, there isn't. You will need to wait a year before you can upgrade.

Re: Sapphire Preferred want Reserved

Upgrade meaning PC and get rid of the CSP or upgrade as in outright applying for the Reserve and having both cards?

Re: Sapphire Preferred want Reserved

You can only have one card in sapphire family
If you downgrade CSP to any of Freedom cards, you could apply for CSR, but there is no guarantee you would get approved.
I personally dont think you would get approved, and if you downgrade after getting a SUB, AF gets prorated, it might be seen as gaming the system. Chase is not a fan of that.
If by any chance you were approved, you would not be eligible for SUB.
Your CSP is 2 weeks old, I wouldn't poke that bear.

Wait a year, than upgrade CSP to CSR.

Can't downgrade til a year anyways due to CARD act right? Agree, wait a year, upgrade CSP to CSR (that's what I'm doing).

Re: Sapphire Preferred want Reserved

You can downgrade at any time, but cant upgrade during a first year.

If a lender prorates AF when you downgrade, they are usually not happy. It may lead to future denials, and in case if some lenders like Amex becoming ineligible for future SUBs.

File it under "just something you shouldn't do if you value card or lender".

It means depending on when you downgrade they'll only charge the AF of when it was used, the rest gets returned to you as a credit on your account

For example let's say you applied and got approved for the CSP today, then in June six months later you say to yourself nah I don't want the CSP anymore. You can call Chase to downgrade the card and they'll return half the AF which is prorated because you only used the card half the year you had it. That's how a prorate works it just depends on how long you had the card since the AF gets charged to how much you get back

Re: Sapphire Preferred want Reserved

Would Chase allow anyone downgrade before their first year anniversary especially after getting a sub? It does look like gaming.
