Sears Card

Has anyone had any luck getting the APR decreased on the store card.  I have called every month for the past 6 months.  PIF right after purchase.  Use other cards for bigger purchases because of the APR.

thanks

Re: Sears Card

I don't think this is possible.  I tried a couple of years ago.  Got rejected all the way!

Re: Sears Card

STBDW is in the same boat.  She managed to get it down to 26-something by calling and asking, but that was the best they could do.

And this is after 10 years of on-time PIFfing.

We would close it in a heartbeat if it weren't her oldest TL.

Re: Sears Card

I think the interest on their card is usually  around 22.99 or 24.99... Maybe they'll drop it to THAT.  but I wouldn't hold my breath, dude!

Re: Sears Card

Nope. I've had one since '92, it was a store card and they morphed it into a gold card somewhere along the way. I've called, (I'm at 18.99%) always on time, lots of usage, CLI along the way here and there, I liked the rewards program, but since receiving my new MyPoints rewards platinum Visa in the mail yesterday, the Sears gold is going into occasional use status. Just enough to keep it reporting and that's it.

I've asked nicely, I've been good, and if they can't appreciate me, they can't have me. I'll use them when I need them and play their game. Smiley Mad

It's Citi by the way, don't know why they're so hard to get along with. It's my oldest TL as well, hence my reluctance to just kiss it goodbye for good.

Currently, Sears is offering applicants cards at PRIME+17.15% (or 24.40% Variable).  Even at that rate, you're better off using a different card.

Surely they don't think this APR is sending the masses to the app button.  lol
