Re: Should I app Barclaycard Arrival World MC with thin file?

OP,

Too soon for Arrival Card. Too risky. Aim for something easier. If you are going to take an inquiry at this point in your credit-repair journey, I would do the following:

1. See how your inquiries are showing on your 3 reports.

2. Try to pick a card that will pull the one with the fewest inquiries if possible.

3. Pick a rewards card that is friendlier to newer users, thinner files and fair scores....like Freedom or Discover IT

Start (Sept 2011): low-mid 600s. NOW: TU FICO: 801, EQ FICO 808, EX FICO 798 (PSECU). Goal: Achieved! Now Maintain!

Not sure if this helps but, even though Barclays is known for pulling TU, they did pull EX on me even after approval.

EX: 750 (05/2015) | EQ: 765 (5/2015) | TU: 765 (5/2015)

Barclays World MasterCard CL: $19K
Capital One MasterCard CL: $3.9K (sock drawer)
CHASE Sapphire Preferred Visa Sig CL: $20K
JPM Ritz Carlton Visa Sig CL: $20K
Inquiries: 1 (EX) 0 (TU) 0 (EQ)

Re: Should I app Barclaycard Arrival World MC with thin file?

Thanks so much, everyone, for your thoughtful responses. I'm going to take your advice and try for something easier to qualify for -- Freedom -- and just Garden that and my DCU Visa until much later this year. Thanks again! Smiley Happy
