I don't quite get: "I just paid them my AF of $72 and have a credit of -$66". What's the credit from?

If you just paid the AF you're a little late in asking. If you just paid it you might as well keep the card another 11 months until the next AF is due. I don't pay CC companies any fees to carry/use their cards, I dumped my Best Buy Visa I've had since 2011 because Citi wouldn't budge on the $59 AF that HSBC attached to the card when they issued it.

I've also had a Merrick Visa since 2011, but it's never had any fees, and with a CL of $3100 I'm keeping it even though I've way outgrown it. I just let a few small monthly bill charge to it to keep it active, the $3100 CL helps offset my utilization % from monthly PIF usgage and some 0% BTs & intro promos.

They normally charge the AF on a monthly basis ($6 per month) but I paid the whole thing instead thus leaving a credit. If I dump them today, they will issue me a credit. I don't use it, I last used it about a year ago.

Ah, I see. And interesting you haven't used it in a year with no adverse action, I've been afraid to go more than a month or two without charging something small on it, concerned they would lower the CL or even close it. Guess I'll push it a bit more. Congrats on closing & getting most of your AF back.

I had no annual fee on mine. Dumped it anyway.

- Yeah, with 1-2% rewards on my other cards I feel I'm throwing away money any time I use. And the absurd 25.45% APR is insulting, even though I'd never carry a balance on it. I've got some 0% BTs through 2017, once I get my util down under 10% without Merrick I'll cut them loose.

I closed it that very same day. I only brought this thread up because it was deleted off my Equifax report via a recent dispute.
