If none, I will use
- Fidelity Amex for some everyday transactions (and at places like costco and the dmv that do not take VISA)
- Amex Blue cash everyday for the $50 of groceries I do a month
- US Bank cash+ for eating out while they still have 5% restaurants
- chase ink for everything else
No offense but it seems you're wasting a lot of time. How long does it take you to reach, let's say, $2k for a sign-up bonus? I'm currently working on the Citi TYP which is half-way through after a week. By the end of next week I'll SD it and wait for the bonus to post.
Also, when spreading out over too many cards you have to wait forever to redeem anything, especially on the Fido... Citi DC, QS or (now new) Discover) would be better suited for such low spend as you can redeem anything anytime.
2k spend does not take very much but I usually apply for more than one card at a time, and some cards have spend that is way higher than 2k to get the bonus.
Probably if the interest rate environment was different I would just put everything on my Fido Amex. But considering even my "best available" rewards checking accounts pay 3% a month, it doesn't really make much of a difference if that $20 stays in the Amex Blue cash point count or if it is sitting in my bank account. Why would I care that it takes longer to redeem? It's not like I'm using the cc rewards as a payday loan that I need RIGHT NOW.

Sapphire - Restaurants/Fast Food/Starbucks
Sallie Mae - Groceries/Nook books
BCE - Temporarily putting most bills on it for bonus purposes, later using as back up to SM
Discover - Online shopping, Discover deals mostly (which are pretty sweet)
Freedom - No love except automatic monthly payments to charities. Thought id be keeping this and closing Sapphire but itll be the opposite. Sapphire is more useful to me.
One rotating categories card is enough!
Why close the Freedom if you have the Sapphire? Merge the UR points which alone is more useful then the Discover card. The only reason i am keeping my discover card is because it is my oldest

Without a transfer card, URs are just cash back, so don't see a huge gain in combining them.

Stilll You can get more CB and makes it easier imo. I also like Freedom's 1st Quarter catagory way more then Discover's. my Discover card which i carry hasnt been used in months lol

I like discover but with their Stingy limit i SD it most of the time
I have a relatively high monthly spend, but I see value in spending in certain categories on specific cards regardless of spending ability. If you could get 3x points on a specific card at a restaurant instead of 2% on a cash back card, why wouldn't you put the purchase on the 3x card? If you don't need the rewards back immediately it would seem you are wasting potential rewards. Maybe I am missing something here.

For me i prefer freedom when they share categories because of the flexibility if i want to use UR points for travel, i do like having discover for shopdiscover they have some pretty good deals.

+1
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the straight cash back value of the UR points is idential to 1% on the Freedom which is the same as Discover.
I don't know why people always say the Chase solution is better because for travel, yes it absolutely is, but for straight cash it seems to be exactly the same redemption value. If you do have a CSP and freedom, you would gain more points/therefore cash with restaurants which you could then cash out, but you'd have to eat out a lot to cancel out the 95 dollar fee I would think.
