Here was my breakout. I had 2 purchses since 9/15 (working on my ATMOS minimum spend so an easy calulation). Transactions since 9/15 were $38.99 and $39.00 - so total of $77.99. The extra 2% showed up in the 3rd line item of "2 Extra Pt: Smartly Earn Bonus-10K cap" ($77.99 *.02 =$1.56 or 156 points). The 1438 on the second line was 2% extra back from what I had spent up to 9/15 so they separated that out too.
2 Points Earned On Net Purchases 1,594
2 Extra Points: Smartly Earning Bonus 1,438
2 Extra Pt: Smartly Earn Bonus-10K cap 156
Total Earned 3,188
Great! So that gives me (some) hope to see things are correct on 10/4.
For those still in the Smartly card system, note that USB has published the new rules today that will go into effect on 11/10/25 as they relate to the Smartly Savings account. This is relevant on this forum as I would suspect there are some using that account to get higher cash back than the standard 2% assuming you got the “good nerf”.
New rules here:

Main change I am seeing the confirmation that Smartly Savings goes to a single interest tier regardless of the amount in the account. Then, if you are in Smartly Rewards Tiers there is an interest rate lift. Net result is the savings account will no longer be even close to a good place to park your savings. Even at the Platnium Plus tier, the lift is only 15%. Standard rate is currently 0.05%...
Oh, absolutely... my rule of thumb is: if the bank has a large network of ATMs, it will never offer demand deposit accounts with interest rates anywhere close to competitive. It's gotta spend that money on ATM maintenance. None of the major banks nor most of the major CUs should be used to hold money in deposit accounts. Transfer in, transfer out, repeat. PNC was a bit of an exception to this when it offered a linked HYSA in my area; it no longer does.
I always love banks that offer customers 0.1% interest on their savings instead of 0.05% if the customer has a "relationship" with the bank. ![]()
Sorry that US Bank wasted so many peoples' time! I have a checking account tied to a business checking account with them just so I can occasionally deposit cash into one of their nearby ATMs. The free business account waives the personal checking account monthly fee. I keep a buck fifty in both.
IMHO it's only a matter of time before those who got the "good" letter get a "bad" letter.

So my message the my Smartly Savings will never get the boost (due to who knows what) doesn't seem to be a huge loss! The top rate for those lucky enough to be able to get it is 0.0575% (before tax)

My statement still hasn't closed (possibly today) but online I now see
2 Extra Pt: Smartly Earn Bonus-10K cap +5,325
which is annoyingly 4 points less than I calculate! And given the numbers it;s not as if some transaction didn't qualify for 4%. Not worth my time to call about it, and lacking a per-transaction breakdown, impossible to isolate!

My statement has closed, I did a data download for the same date range, compared statement and "csv" file to make sure same records were included. My base 2% was also off, however only 2 points and in my favor, so I made 1c.
71 transactions over the full statement and 43 from the 15th to end of statement cycle.
The difference between 4% and 2% let me find possible set's of problem Mcc codes.
Have 4 possible combinations for which rewards were reduced to 2% not getting the 4%.
It will take another month or two with different spend amounts to iron out which set's are in which bucket.
Have a database with all my Mcc codes used and field for which prove to be 4% or 2% only.
In a couple of months any one wanting a go/no-go list of Mcc's, let me know and I will PM.
Everyone's spend is different but every proven 4% limits the possible set of Mcc's that fall into the 2%.
My data might help other, spreadsheet--database users trying to separate the numbers. ![]()

I will pay my property tax bill later this month and really want to see what happens! In previous quarters, because I paid by credit card I get two charges, one the actual tax, the other for the (2.95%?) convenience fee. The first is coded as utilities, the second as tax. So if I still get 4% on the utilities charge (and 2% on the convenience fee) I'll still be ahead, otherwise back to echeck.

If property tax codes as a utility you are extremely lucky. ![]()

Yes, it lists it as utility on the online display, MCC is 09399 which is Government Services not otherwise.... According to Reddit, some real utilities (from a city/town) code this way and are not counted as utilities by Cash+. Question is whether Smartly will decide these are taxes!
The convenience fee codes as 9311, which is certainly taxes
US Bank knocked my monthly health insurance premium down to 2% (category under insurances). So ... they have implemented their latest update.
