I tried the Amex link a month ago and I'm fairly certain it showed up on my EX report as a soft. Although, I can't seem to find that report back to confirm...

I can say with 100% certainty that AMEX never softed any of my reports when I used their pre app link. EX may data mine for AMEX and send them an alert when certain criteria are met but I dunno.
