I got an email about my existing Belk account and I noticed in the picture there was a MasterCard version.
Taking a quick peek at the main Belk Credit webpage I see that, sure enough, there's a MasterCard now.
At-a-glance it seems to have the same rewards scheme as the non-MC version with the addition of 2% for grocery and fuel purchases. More info here: https://www.belk.com/belk-credit-card-rewards-benefits.html
My own Belk card is 12 years old and is my second oldest account so it will be interesting to see if I'm offered an upgrade (assuming anybody is). Since Synchrony is known to report upgrades as new accounts it will definitely give me something to think about.

Interesting. May you add an Adkins NOPE to upgrade offer. That's the problem in my opinion that by the time we earn an upgrade we are usually past the point of actually needing it or it will mess up our aaol. Ah well, having high limit store card will at least keep me grounded in that I really cant use 10k in underwear
LOL... yeah, I don't know if they will do upgrade offers (or if I'll get one) but I agree, I don't see the urgency to upgrade my second oldest account knowing how Synchrony does upgrades.
I stopped asking for CLIs on Belk a while back (it's at $5k); I figured there was no reason to run it up since like you say, I only need so many pairs of socks/underwear.
If they sold furniture/mattresses like Macy's it would be different, but they don't (at least the locations nearest me don't).
UncleB,
I called Synchrony about this when I saw it on the website last week. As of right now, they aren't any upgrades. If you wnt the Mastercard version, you have to apply for it. I thought about and said no. I'm trying not to apply for anything in 2018. I already have more than enough credit cards.

Thanks for the great intel, @Guyatthebeach... I'm with you; this definitely isn't one to apply for unless somebody was already interested in the "regular" Belk card (PLCC).
Since my existing account is so old (relative to my other accounts) I probably won't take the upgrade even if it's offered... there's literally no motivation to do so at this time. It's a shame Synchrony upgrades don't carry over the history of the old account or else this would be a no-brainer.

Good find @UncleB! 😁
I used to have this card from SYNCB a while back. Interesting placement of the MC logo (perhaps due to aesthetics so as not to detract from the "b" brand logo)?
Almost makes it appear like a non-US issued MC (i.e. LATAM, EMEA, etc.)
Great minds think alike... that's what I thought when I saw it as well!
I've never seen a U.S. card with the logo placed like that, although the various vertical cards and logo-on-back placement that some U.S. cards have clearly demonstrates issuers have some flexibility. It will be interesting to see if the card has the top-corner placement or if that's just art for the website.
If only the rewards it offered were as interesting as the logo placement...

I think they placed the MC on the top right so it wouldn't get in the way of the B in the Belk logo.
Seems like a casino tactic using different levels of VIP status right there when you whip out your Belk card.
I worked at Belk after college and learned there never really was a sale there. One week a men's suit would be on sale for $199.99. The next week we changed tags on the rack which said 25% off. The total price came to $199.99 again.
Oh they do put things on clearance when trying to get rid of the coming end of season's styles. My mother had a Belk card and that's the only place our school clothes came from. The other kids got to pick out shoes from Foot Locker. We got some conservative old man New Balance on mama's Belk card.
I'll shop at Belk looking for a deal but I will not be loyal because of a store card.
