What is up with Target and this crappy $200 CC?? What can you do with is? I have lines up to $15K...why do they start people out so low? I have a BK on file, but jeeeeshhhh!

I think there are others with no baddies or bks getting $200 ccs.

Re: TARGET

Please don't get me started on Target.  Have tried over and over since my BK in 2001 with them to get the Target Visa and keep getting the Red Card instead with $200 limits on each one.  I now have 4 of them @$200CL/each and they stay in the sock drawer!  They won't combine them into one card either!  Puuuhleeease!

If they haven't upgraded you, they are not going to approve you for Visa when you reapp....  Target softs more than anyone.  Close the newest three and use the other sparingly like every three months.  I had BK on  2000 and was upgraded to Visain one year.  My limit sucks so I will be closing but wth?

BTW the upgrade is just a store card on steroids. Still has Store card APR

Re: TARGET

Just a footnote to add:  If you get this card and don't use it or if it's been a while since you have, always call to make sure your card is still active.  If you don't use it for a while they will automatically close it "due to inactivity."

I learned about this the hard way!  I had never used the first card I got and about 6 months later I went to use it, got up to the check out stand, and the snippy target guest girl looked at me like I was using a stolen card when she swiped the card.  I had no idea they closed the account because I hadn't used it.  I ended up having to use another CC that I didn't want to and it was quite an embarrasing situation!  As you can see I am not a big fan of the Target Red Card!

Re: TARGET

Good advice, Brammy!  I guess I'll just keep the 1st one, start using it, and hope for the best later on down the road!

I'll be closing mine somewhere around June.  Low limit and high interest.  We are not friends.  I'm sure that they don't appreciate the fact that I PIF but then again I think they encourage that seeing their lowest interest rate issomethig like 17%

Re: TARGET

I got the Further Investigation thingy. 2 hours later they called to confirm my address and phone number. I got the store card. My guess is it will be the standard 200. I don't go to Target but I want a Visa and I need a store card for the mix.
I hold at these 3 cards for 3 months then I go to the Credit Union. In 23 months I'll go for a really serious card and drop the Orchard. I should never have to look back after that.

Re: TARGET

I kind of feel bad after hearing all this talk about Target.  I got the Target card just to get 10% off of the deck furnature we bought about 4 years ago.  The gave me the VISA with a $5000 CL and I closed it about a year later (yeah, stupid, pre-myFICO).  I wonder if they've changed their criteria and if I'd end up with the $200 limit now or not?

Are they still offering the 10% discount on your first purchase at the store?  I remember it took maybe 20 minuets to apply in the store, felt like a very onlg time.  Or furnature came to about $225.  It would have sucked to apply, just to get the 10% discount, and then be rejected, or accepted with only a $200 limit.

I also got the Target visa for the 10% discount with a cl of $5,000 back in November.  When I received the card and saw the apr - 23.99% I was so upset that I called and cancelled the card.  In retrospect I probably acted to hastily.  It was my intention to PIF anyway but since my sister's apr was 13.99% I just couldn't see even bothering with it.
