Re: Target CC Input

Sounds like another reason to get the Target Red Debit card instead of the Target Red CC (both get 5% off etc etc, main difference is that one is a debit card that links to your preexisting checking account and the other is a store credit card that, aside from the benefits it shares with the debit card, is wholly ho-hum).

Re: Target CC Input

I haven't had issues with Target's billing in the past, but this holiday season it's been a mess. I haven't been overcharged yet, in fact I've been undercharged a few times, but I'll second the suggestion to check your statements carefully.

I've had a few instances where one order had had three different totals attached to it: the original order email, the email with the total after it ships, and the actual amount I was charged, which you can find by logging into to your target (not red card) account, pulling up the order and opening the invoice. In many cases the second email total was higher then the first but the invoice was lower.

Because so many orders are being sent in multiple shipments it's even harder to reconcile, so do be vigilant.

Target credit card does not offer any extended protection benefits, no sir. All other benefits (free shipping and 30 days return) are the same for debit and credit. Maybe 16 years ago it was a different card?

About overcharging - i was also shocked, when saw on my bill, and how widespread it is [Mod cut - Sorry, links to that website are not allowed on myFICO - KiB]

I am still trying to get my money back.. what a nightmare it is.

Did not post a link right away as not to derail the thread, but the op got to know and be aware.

By protection benefits, the credit card has zero liability for unauthorized use.  The debit card has a $50 liability for unauthorized use if you report it within four days, if not the liability is raised to $500.  The other safeguard is that with the credit card, the maximum someone could charge would be your credit limit, while with the debit card they are only limited to the balance of your checking account plus any overdraft protection.  For some of us, that means someone could potentially charge well in excess of $100,000 before hitting that limit.  While you may not be liable for all of it in the end, you could imagine there'd be many headaches with having your bank account drained.  Personally, I just find it too risky.

I had not previously heard about overcharging, but will certainly keep an eye out.  Thanks for bringing that to our attention and I hope you're able to get it straightened out.

Re: Target CC Input

I did not know about liability of 50$..

But is not it inherently more safe because of the PIN?

Re: Target CC Input

if you have the cash in hand, walk into a Target store and make a $310.86 payment..wait a day and you will have a $310.86 credit balance...then i bet you it lets you make the charge.
