Unless you need a new credit card (with new account and inq) and a probably low CL: for actual Target use, the debit card is a good choice. Not sure why people go for the credit version. Yes, credit card protections are better on big ticket items, but at least initially, you probably can't buy a big ticket item with the cc!

That's sort of what I was thinking. Can't get much with a $300-$500 limit. No chance of buying a decent TV or doing a bunch of holiday shopping there for example.

@Jnbmom that sounds about right. Never saw a post saying "Approved or $10,000!!" on a target card. I'm not even sure how high they go but if you're a frequent shopper I can see how it can add up quickly
@FinStar I can honestly say this is the first time I've ever seen it on there, but then again I don't spend too much time stalking that site lol it's great for immediate alerts and updates, but that's about it. They do have a good layout though
Im not certain how high they go either, mine started at $1500 a couple years ago, then they bumped me up to $2000 6 months after opening. thats the last increase i got LOL. i hear they are weird on their increases. it was mentioned a conversion? to what? is there a Visa/MC version? if so i did not know that. id be interested to know who from if there is. i dont see anything about it. inquiring minds..hehe
In 2013, when I was buying a camera, I applied in store and got an instant $9,500. I bought a few things here and there, not much, and I ended up closing it. Idk why I thought that was a good idea back then but I did, that and Sears $6300...oh the dumb things I've done.
Wow I have joined the club on CK I got very good approval odds on Target and HBSC cards lol.
Not biting of course but found it funny!

A little off topic, but from time to time I buy online from Target using the debit card, which is good. But, they have started being very aggressive about asking for reviews, which I don't respond to. So I have had 10 or so "reminders" asking me to review my most recent order so other customers can benefit.
The order was for paper towels. Now maybe there are good and bad paper towels, but not sure what a detailed review would cover! (They tear off the roll fine, they are about as absorbent as expected and they pose no hazard when used correctly....)
