Target MasterCard

So how many of these will be issued with a $500 limit?

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.....
Always follow these rules: Only take a HP for a new account. Always use the best rewards card for that reward category. Don't close a card unless you know you really should. Never use more than 35% of a credit limit. Recon as much and as best you can. Use the introductory period to the best advantage. Get the signup bonus. Whenever possible PIF or balance transfer so you pay less in interest. Never give an excellent rating when it is actually the norm. Always look for a discount as more is always better.
Always accept candy from strangers because they have the best candy or from people you know have good candy.

Re: Target MasterCard

You mean $300 ;-D

I'm actually glad to see that there are sings of them bringing back a branded MasterCard. Their current RedCard Credit Card is awful and I always seem to spend more than the $300 they give people anytime I go.

I hope they do more than just the 5% off in store - they need to have a compelling interest free program like Sync does with Wallyworld or even some marginal % back rewards like the Sam's Club MasterCard.

Re: Target MasterCard

The funny thing about this is that it was announced last year in about April and still hasn't yet come about.

Re: Target MasterCard

Unless you really need an additional low-limit trade line, there is little point in going for the Target credit card.   The Target debit card also gives 5% off, as does the Prepaid card (best option if available in your state), and that latter two have no impact on your credit report.

Re: Target MasterCard

I have the debit card..Ive used it once since I got it. I'm glad I didn't app for the credit card. I guess it's just instinct to take out my credit card anyways.

Re: Target MasterCard

I am beginning to think that there was no point in opening the account.  After almost two years and no CLI, there seems little point in having it.  If I were to need to purchase something and carry a balance, then I would have to use a different card anyway and lose the 5% on the portion I couldn't put on this card.

Wally World gives you up to 2 years at 0% interest on large purchases, so if the same item were available there then even the 5% discount wouldn't matter.

Re: Target MasterCard

Agreed I see very little point in the credit card. It is notorious for tiny limits that don't grow. Besides that, you get the same exact benefits out of the debit card with no HP.

And yes that Mastercard pic has been floating around for a long time, the only thing available on their site is still the usual store card. Evidently, they decided not go forward with the Mastercard or there's a serious delay (as it has been a year+).

Serious delay. Launching Aug 17 last I heard. Initially, it'll probably only be for people who currently have the Visa card, but I have no hard facts on if they'll take new sign-ups or not... that's only speculation.

American Express Blue Cash Everyday - $11,000; American Express Platinum Cashback Everyday - £3,000; American Express Rewards Credit Card - £7,500; Aqua Reward Mastercard - £3,500; Bank of America Travel Rewards - $5,000; Barclaycard Freedom Rewards - £3,500; Citi Forward - $5,800; Discover It - $10,000; Halifax Clarity - £1,500; HSBC Platinum with Rewards - $5,000, MBNA Everyday Plus - £3,500

Yeah, it has been a long time, maybe there was a delay because of the data breach?......
