And yes that Mastercard pic has been floating around for a long time, the only thing available on their site is still the usual store card. Evidently, they decided not go forward with the Mastercard or there's a serious delay (as it has been a year+).
Yeah, it has been a long time, maybe there was a delay because of the data breach?......
No, it's the opposite, they only even announced it because of the data breach. TBH, I imagine the delayed date of Aug 17 is more in line with original plans but to save face after the data breach they announced it far too early, and their POS team didn't manage to keep up. As the store cards will not have a magnetic stripe (or at least, a functional one), every Target has to be chip enabled before the store cards can be issued. As for the MasterCard, which will obviously still have a magstripe for MasterCard - no idea why that one hasn't came out yet, except they probably want to launch all three at the same time.

Serious delay. Launching Aug 17 last I heard. Initially, it'll probably only be for people who currently have the Visa card, but I have no hard facts on if they'll take new sign-ups or not... that's only speculation.
That date is fast approaching. I do imagine the Visa cardholders would be the first to get them. Then followed by those who have a CL which is higher. And then the remaining 98% of us based on usage and length of account.
Maybe that is also when we will see CLIs happen? After all why give a MC to someone with a $300 limit....?.....

Because CapitalOne does.
I haven't heard much discussion on whether new Target MCs would be offered. They may just be a legacy item for the current Visa cardholders, but maybe not. The store card shows on the CRs as "credit card" (like every other major CC) instead of "Charge card" (store cards), so if that reporting stays as is, I can't say I'd benefit anymore by having a Target MC.
Target is my lowest CL at $1000. However, since I typically don't spend more than $100 a month at Target, I'm happy with it. While the perks are similar to the debit card, you also have the benefits of a credit product (no direct links of purchases to your bank accounts, deferred payments, etc) combined with those perks. It's not for everyone, so one should consider all factors before getting it.

+1 I should have known that comment wouldn't be too far behind.

Like another poster said, they are getting better. I applied for the card 9 months ago and was given an intial CL of $300, but I have had 2 CLI since then....my limit is now $1300 and I've only used the card twice. I hope I get upgraded to the MC.
Good to hear they are giving out better limits for some people. Although I already have the debit and see no real pressing need to apply for the credit.
If they come out with a good Mastercard that offers benefits for shopping outside of Target that are compelling, maybe. But the store credit card doesn't offer any significant enough advantages for me vs the debit.

I still haven't received any mailing for Target MC. I still have the same old Target Visa.
