Target Redcard / MC Poll

Please only respond if you can answer the questions. Not to be rude, but I'm interested in actual data, not anecdotal info. I personally can't see any reason for accepting a Target upgrade to MC. I would never use the card outside of Target and I don't travel internationally so lack of FTF isn't a benefit to me. I am now curious though, if higher limits are more likely with the MC over the store card. Someone on the other forum said their MC has a $10k limit. That might entice me to upgrade! Smiley Very Happy

1) What is your current Red Card (store only) limit?

2) If you were converted to MC, what is your current limit?

3) When you received the upgrade, was the MC reported as a new account to the credit bureaus?

4) Since being upgraded, have you received additional CLIs?

Capital One Savor: $8,000; Mission Lane: $4,500; PenFed Power Cash Rewards: $3,500; Nordstrom Visa: $3,300; Capital One: $550 (reallocated $2k to Savor)

Store/Other: Care Credit $7,500; Kohls $2,500; Home Depot: $1,500; Amazon: $1,000; Target: $1,100; LOFT: $700

Re: Target Redcard / MC Poll

1. N/A
2. $3300
3. My card was first converted to Visa. Not reported as a new account but lender name has changed several times.
4. Initial CLD from $1300 to $800 when converted. 14 years later, began receiving CLIs at 6 month intervals. $500, $1000 and $1000.

Re: Target Redcard / MC Poll

Red Card $1100. Went from $300-$1100 in about 10 months. They will increase me next month if they follow my other CLI's...

Re: Target Redcard / MC Poll

I can only answer the first two questions.

1, My RedCard limit was $2,100.00

2. Received two letters this week, the first indicating I was recieving a CLI to $7,000.00 and the second letter said to expect a conversion to MC in August.

From what I've seen, people are getting CLI before upgrade? This is now my highest CL so I welcome the conversion.

Yeah, I know they increase then upgrade. I'm saying once you've been upgraded and are operating off the MC...what has CLI history been like.

Re: Target Redcard / MC Poll

I haven't received anything informing me that I am getting a MC, but I also haven't received a CLI letter for my past 3 CLI's.

They have my correct address.

I tried calling to find out if my REDcard would be changing to a MC, but the CS rep told me they had no idea.

So not sure how to find out if I can't get any info by calling.

I can't answer most...but:

1. As of last week my CL was $1900, as of tonight when I checked it is now $4000

2. I cannot say I was converted but I assume so, waiting for a letter

3. N/A for now, will update

4. N/A as I have no need to ask for more

I got curious and logged in...sure enough it's an increased CL, I'll wait and see on the rest. For anyone who cares I carried a balance of $140 for about 2 weeks ( though I don't know if that matters)

Re: Target Redcard / MC Poll

I received my CLI letter and MC upgrade letter today.

The card actually does have additional rewards outside of Target. I posted a thread in the Credit Card forum.

Re: Target Redcard / MC Poll

1) 800 dollars
2) 1600 credit line conversion happens 8/31/17
3)NA
4) it will not be a new trade line. The old account will transfer over

I am declining the conversion. TD bank wants more use on the cards. I’m trying to get out of debt
