I was declined a Target credit card with my 800+ score, long history and spotless credit reports. Their algorithm must be wrong so I went with the debit card instead.

They are definitely an odd duck... I'm nowhere near 800's for scores.

I was denied for to many inquiries with 5 in 6 months, 10 in 12 and 96 in 24. A few months later I tried again with 15 in 6 months, 20 in 12 and 98 in 24 and was instantly approved... go figure.  (I've since headed to the garden, and behaving myself).

It is used to describe letting your credit age and not applying for new credit or new inquiries.
