Drag out whatever reason it is you're waiting. Rewards cards, killer mortgage rate, all the rest.

Keep your eyes on the prize!

This!

If they're softing you, then you have their interest. Wait for them to come to you. Stick with your plan and you will eventually get an offer. Stay strong!

And if you need an electric shock from your keyboard to snap you out of the app itch...

Zap!!!

Heh, I for one would be pretty stoked if Amex was softing me.  YMMV.

Speaking of inquiries... I was told lenders don't really care about inquiries that are 1+ yrs old, just recent ones. Anyone know is this is accurate?

Depends VERY MUCH on the lender.

FICO scores only count those within one year.

Lenders' opinions are completely separate from FICO scores.

My guess, and it's only that: if you have a couple-three inqs from more than 12 months ago, then big whoop. If you have a dozen, be prepared to explain what on earth you were doing.

And remember, a lender only sees the inqs on the report that was pulled. Reports if they pull multiple. That's why we report things like 3 on EQ, 2 on EX, 0 on TU.

I agree with this. If you have 12 inquiries in a few months time, I wouldn't want to lend you money either! It appears desperate. Then again, if you have less than 5 over a year old, close to dropping off, then I don't think I'd mind as much.

Re: The Decision

to LS I read alot of the posts on this forum you are by far one of the constants.  Eventhough I know its a crap score I check credit karma too.   Yesterday I jumped from 637 to 696 credit karma fako because my last baddie was deleted off file.  I dont know much about your file but your creditkarma score seems to be aat the same point as several weeks ago.  Before you apped had anything changed in your credit file for the good.  Also from reading here I have heard that amex is very funny about ANY baddies and usually takes at least one year of cc history as the minimum.  What is in your files as I may app for them in 7months but still have judgement on eperian and one account waitng to have deleted.  Oh and sorry you got declined thaT SUCKS!!!
