My bike that I recently purchased at Kmart using my Sears card got stolen. Does anyone know if the Sears card offers a replacement for situations like this?

It looks as though, according to Citi's website, that most purchases made with a Citi Mastercards are protected against fire, accidental damage & theft within 90 days of purchase. Unfortunately, it doesn't say if that extends to the co-branded cards. Mastercard offers complimentary purchase protection (theft & accidental damage) for 30 days as well.
Of course... all of this is irrelevant if you've got the store card, or if your purchase was greater than 30 or 90 days. ![]()
Merry X'mas everyone!
DI, have you call them and ask? That might be the best way to get an answer ... IMO
I hope Santa brought you a new Bike. That sux, I hope it all works out for ya!
remember to file a police report and that you can claim the loss on your taxes
Simplest thing would be to call them and see if it is covered, and if it is covered be prepared to run a gauntlet of requirements. A police report will be required, along with receipts and other items that will be explained to you along the way. The only claim I ever made on a card was for a $25 item that got screwed up the first time I used it and AMEX said it was covered, but in the end it was pretty onerous to get credit for it.. Forms had to be filled out, a rep called and gave me a claims number, had to do followup including sending the item to AMEX for inspection, etc. My view of these sorts of warranties is they sound good on paper but I bet the actual payout on them is tiny for the companies. They do not make it easy. Just my experience. A stolen bike is worth it to pursue, but it will be a hassle.
Thanks for the advice. I didn't bother to file a police report. I only paid $60 for it. I bought a cheap one because I knew it was a possibility it may get stolen. I'll get a new one when more people are back on campus.

Yes, I called. The rep said they don't offer that type of protection.
You might consider claiming it on your homeowners or renter's insurance, if appropriate. Sometimes it's hard to think in these situations, of the options.
I had my bicycle stolen this year, too. And later I saw a guy riding it down my street as I stood there talking to a patrol officer who was in the area because of some recent violence. The officer did nothing, but ask me to check and make sure it was stolen (of course it was, it had been stolen months before), as the guy was riding away, and I'm shouting at him, "hey, that's my bike, that's my bike."
Sucks.
