Im speechless right now. I just tried to do a balance transfer on my Ring and it wont even let me. It says I have no offers right now. You used to not even need an offer, it was always avail and they charged you like $1 per transfer. It used to be the same for cash advances they were basically free then you paid 8% on the money. I called them up and they said there charging a 5% fee for every cash advance and if I have a BT offer its a 3% fee. Unfreakin believable! This was my go to card if I ever needed some cash quickly or to basically do a free BT to a low 8% apr. I dont really do big purchases on credit cards I like just getting cash when I need it. I planned on keeping this card for life but not anymore.
Does anyone know if theres another card that offers what the Ring card used to offer?
When did you obtain your card? There are two distinct Ring products that have completely different fee structures. The original card has a $3 cash advance fee, a variable APR of prime + 5%, and no fees for balance transfers. The later card introduced in 2016 or 2017 has a very different fee structure. I just checked Player 2's account and her Ring is as it always was and the link to request convenience checks is still active.
As far as a substitute, NFCU Platinum at 5.99% or BECU Visa at 6.90% are good options if you qualify for the lowest rates. BECU has no BT fees, no CA fees with same APR as purchases, no FTFs with a no-fee 0% for 12 month BT offer. NFCU has no BT fees, CA APR of 7.99% with a $0.50 domestic or $1 international CA fee at non-NFCU ATMs, no FTFs with a no-fee 0% for 12 months BT offer.
I got the card around 5 years ago. I used to have it like your friend did like $1-$3 for balance transfers and the same for cash advances. Where are you getting that theres 2 different ring cards? Do you have a link that has info on these? I just got off the phone with barclay and they didnt mention anything about my account being changed to a different type of ring. Also I have a CL of $13,500 and I can only get $2700 for cash which sucks. I used to be able to get alot more like 50% of my CL. The guy on the phone told me everyone that has a ring card can only get 20% of there CL for cash advances
Sorry to read about your Ring experience. This is a good lesson to at least maybe check up on the latest credit card info as things change over time and even more so now. Good thing is you are posting on myFico so you now have the proper tool to check on any credit card changes![]()
Looks like the change happened in February 2017:

I have not seen any info on changes for older cards, though.

Does anyone know if theres another card that offers what the Ring card used to offer?
The way the Ring card used to be, which was good, is uncommon among banks, but common among credit unions. Credit unions have no-rewards platinum cards which are better than the Ring card ever was.
My advice would be to look to your local credit unions, or one for which you qualify because of school or work or through a relative, and check out their non-rewards platinum card offerings. There are many credit union platinum cards which offer no balance transfer fee, no cash advance fee, and modest interest rates. NFCU's platinum Visa card is like that.
In credit unions which can be joined by anyone, here are some of those kinds of cards:
-Unify FCU Platinum Visa
-Digital FCU Platinum Visa
-Chartway FCU Platinum Visa
-Vantage West CU Connect

Great info South Jamaica. Im curious, with these credit unions do you usually have to verify income? Im hoping you dont and its similar to the big banks.
Im only gonna need 1 card maybe 2 max . Does one stand out as the best in your opinion? If so maybe you could rank them in order. If your familiar with BECU also id like you to include that in. Appreciate it
K thanks for looking into that for me. I appreciate the BECU recommendation also. Fyi I cant get a NFCU card cause me and my parents werent in the military.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
I've never had a BECU card.
Of the ones I mentioned, I like them all, but my favorite is NFCU.
Ranking the others I guess the order would be Unify, Vantage West, Chartway, and Digital, but really I like them all pretty much equally.
Some other great credit unions with cards like that which I have not yet been able to get, are: PSECU, Hanscom, Interior, Kinecta, Consumers (Illinois), Garden Savings.
Those are all credit unions open to all, but frequently the best deals are with more local or limited credit unions, such as, e.g., Frankenmuth Credit Union in Michigan.

Thanks for the info I got alot of research to do. I just checked out the e.g., Frankenmuth Credit Union and they got crazy good rates. 5.9% nice! I actually thought Unify was the worst one cause there rates say 9.5%.
If anyone else thinks theres a couple credit unions that stand out above the rest please let me know. I appreciate all the help guys.

I have found surprisingly little interest in the type of credit card that you and I like
Most folks here are more interested in good rewards cards.
