Thinking of applying for the OSU Beaver Card (OCCU)

So far I got

BoA Better Balance 2000

BoA Cash Rewards 1500

Chase Freedom 2500

AmEx TrueEarnings 2000

Discover IT 1000

Duck Card-(Not Sure Yet)

I want to apply for an OSU beaver card. I always pay in full and I use my credit cards like debit cards. I have a good balance of rewards cards but I want a couple cards with high limits to optimize utilization. I want to have more tradelines since I have no student, auto, or home loans or anything like that. Shall I apply for the OSU Beaver card, or am I pushing it with enough cards.

Re: Thinking of applying for the OSU Beaver Card (OCCU)

I was approved for the Duck card back in October and just now applied for the BC for the high CL. I was given the 7-10 day message this time and just today I got my score (793 according to them) and a 20,000 CL. I was shocked considering these are now my two highest limit cards by a mile.

Have you researched the "Duck card" thread to gauge some data points?

Re: Thinking of applying for the OSU Beaver Card (OCCU)

I have researched it, I'm not afraid of being rejected, I'm just wondering if Ill have too many cards? I can handle it fine, but its just the world is always telling you "dont get too many credit cards" etc. Clearly the average person is clueless and says many things without merit or credibility. So I come to this board with my questions on credit, not random adults.

If I didn't make it clear, I'm not looking for profiles of those accepted or wondering if Ill get accepted. Im more inquiring about the effects of having another card.

This will vary by individual.  I have ~ 60 revolving active tradelines, and it didn't prevent me for getting the OCCU Beaver card with a $17.5K CL.  It really boils down to DTI, overall profile and whether you want to manage that many accounts.  It's a matter of personal preference.

They don't seem to have any issue giving both Duck and Beaver Card out so I would say GO!

How long have you had your current cards?

How do you even manage so many cards?
