Re: Tons of Synchrony Cards

Yep, I also closed Chevron ($700) because we moved north and there are no Chevron or Texaco stations within 100 miles. I closed Gap ($200) never used it, and I am planning to close Walmart ($1,200) and PayPal SC $1,100) soon. Synchrony has been good to me and the cards served their purpose so I will never say they are useless; however, I now have over $100k in credit and no longer need the cards. The one I will never get rid of is my Lowe's....love it!!!

OP remember the 4 statement rule for credit limit increases and again, good luck to you!

Personal Credit? Check. Business Credit? Check.

Re: Tons of Synchrony Cards

Op I think you will be fine. I was approved for 7 synch cards back in May in a two week span. Including then synch card Dillards. I have a total of about 10 synch cards all together. I'm still going strong with those. All 7 have since received cli. I know a lot on here have apps remorse after they go on a spree of retail store cards. But I must admit I love my synch cards. As well as Comenity. I love the bonuses and promotions with using the cards. I do keep balances within reason. The first 4 months of these cards I kept balances on the cards so that I could get my 4 month increase. Most were increased before 4 months. Just nurture your cards and credit in general. And all will be good! Congrats!

Re: Tons of Synchrony Cards

Okay that's nice but aren't you interested in having any prime cards as well? I usually get Sync stuff when either I'm going to have some kind of useful purpose for them or whether the cards in question give out high limits that I can use to my advantage in several ways. A few of mine started out at limits like $600 and $900 and I got them as soon as my FICO score generated but they have grown really well overtime as my profile has improved and so forth.

I had to let a statement on mine genenerate first before that worked. With Lowes they were instantly able to bring my limit up so I think that depends on which Synchrony card you're talking about.

Re: Tons of Synchrony Cards

@OP, Im going to go with the general sentiment of the other posters and advise you to stop applying. Let your current cards age and grow your limits.

In any case, Congratulations.

Re: Tons of Synchrony Cards

Hmmm $437 is a rather odd limit, but a nice Pick 3 number. Smiley LOL

Seriously, I'd keep the Sam's card open for a while. You already took the hit for it. Plus it can grow in time.

Keep both your credit and your body in top shape!

Re: Tons of Synchrony Cards

I'm in the process of PIFing and cancelling Walmart and Amazon.  The only real reward is the FICO TU 08 score on Walmart, but walking into a Walmart gives me a rash.

Amazon I was mulling over keeping, but I can put purchases on Chase and get 1%, or 5% in the Quarterly category when it's up.

The one I'm keeping is Care Credit.  I may try for Lowe's sometime in the future if I'm in a house by that point.

Re: Tons of Synchrony Cards

Wait, you've got only two other cc and want to close 2 no fee cards, one with a free FICO and the other financing perks- both with unbridled growth potential that could come in handy in the future. Really? Sorta wish folks would more seriously consider applying for cards to hold on to and avoid taking INQ and AAoA hits just to turn around and close.

Re: Tons of Synchrony Cards

+1, I'd keep the WM for the TU08 FICO...Unless you have a Discover or Barclaycard.
