Re: Tribute Gold MasterCard Program shutting down

I just spoke to a supervisor at Tribute who said that all of our accounts would reflect closed by customer.  I'm waiting to see what happens.  The rep I was talking to before told me that the credit bureaus were all aware of the discontinuation of the program.  I really hope that this supervisor was telling the truth.  I explained to him that because of their decision they could potentially be ruining peoples credit who joined their program to rebuild it in the first place.  The supervisor said that the letter, which I have yet to receive says that it will not reflect the closure in a negative way on the reports...

Re: Tribute Gold MasterCard Program shutting down

I also have recieved no mail but my account is also closed.  So they close my account but will still charge to pay them and an account matinence fee for a closed account.  Thats just Bull****.  I wonder why they would be halted by the feds.  Anyone heard of a lawsuit or anything?

Re: Tribute Gold MasterCard Program shutting down

I have had my card forever and while searching this I have found alot of tribute horror stories.  All I know is if this company tries to pull some crap I might just have to tell them where to go and not pay them another dime. But I guess that would just hurt me more.

Re: Tribute Gold MasterCard Program shutting down

I currently owe them 1,450 bucks.  I pay about 40 bucks just for finance each month and on top of that another 10 dollar account matinence fee.  On my other HSBC card I also have a 1,500 limit and am close to being at my limit and they only charge me 12 bucks in finace charges per month.  Crazyyyyyyyy..........

Re: Tribute Gold MasterCard Program shutting down

I have not received the letter nor have I tried using the card since I don't use that often.  The only reason I started doing research was because I had gone on my account to see when my next bill was due and what the balance was.  My account does not reflect a credit line or an available credit.  I tried calling today to close my account so it could reflect on the credit report that I closed it but they wouldn't let me.  Said the account was already closed and then the supervisor said that it would show that I closed it...

Can only wait and see.

Re: Tribute Gold MasterCard Program shutting down

I did not get a notice at all. I knew my annual fee was coming up, since I've had the card for about a year. I went to check my balance to make sure I had enough available credit to cover the fee. (When your limit is only $350, and the fee is $150, it's easy to go over limit with the annual fee.) I was planning to make a big payment. I'm not too upset about the account closing. The card really did it's job as far a rebuilding my credit. All I can say is, they BETTER NOT charge the stupid annual fee! :smileywink:
