Trying to get a new card, unhappy with Orchard

My credit was toilet worthy and is still not stellar. I had an AU account removed from my TU and went from 516 > 622. My scores are EQ - 586, EX - 644 and TU - 622. I have a lot of old paid chargeoffs on them, but everything all in all is coming back to respectability. I am trying to find out which creditors are going to be willing to extend me a card. I have been getting all kinds of pre-offers in the mail, but they're for Best Buy visa and similar items. I attempted to apply for the WaMu Visa a few minutes ago and got denied, so I don't want to have any other hard pulls until I am more sure of getting an approval. Any help anyone can offer is appreciated. Also, the 586 should come up with the removal of another maxed out AU account that has been getting paid on time on a payment agreement for the last year.

Re: Trying to get a new card, unhappy with Orchard

I have been with them since December of '05 and they changed my APR from 16.65% to 27.99% with no explanation. I have never been late with my payments and pay in full most months. When I called and requested information on why it was done, I got three different stories. I finally got a straight answer and it was based on a review of the account and "external factors." It doesn't make sense though, because my credit has done nothing but get better since last September as I began to pay off past debts. Those are the reasons I want to look for a new card.

you should be good to go for Hooters... they give out high credit lines for blah credit.
Capital One also has a rebuilder card that can increase in cli over time to very nice.
apply at household.com... they will tell you what there willing to give you, maybe they will give you household card over orchard!

and I hear ya on the change in apr for "external reasons. I had a Merrick bank card once (rebuilder card they gave me after bk) they took me from 16-34%. Never late, never over limit, the account was 3 years old and had been through 4 cli increases WITHOUT asking.  One rep. told me it was the banks way to get you to close the account without closing it on you, which I didn't understand but... just move on to better cards that treat you better and don't worry about it Smiley Happy
