UPDATE: 4th Citi APR reduction, 4 days in a row!!

Approved earlier this month for AAdvantage card (with APR much higher than I am used to). Contacted Citi via online chat to request APR reduction.

BAM! Went from 19.99% to 17.99%.

Then I asked if I could lower my Simplicity from 12.99% and this is what I was told...interesting. Anyone have a lower APR on their Simplicity than 12.99%?

Re: Got my Citi AAdvantage APR reduced!

12.99% is generally the lowest rate for most CC's, with no way to override it.

Re: Got my Citi AAdvantage APR reduced!

Congrats. I asked them 10 days after opening the account to lower the APR. It went form 13.99% to 13.24%. Will ask again mid April lol.

Define "most"

Are you referring to Citi's cards or including other lenders as well?

Most lenders, including Citi, bottom out at 12.99%, give or take a fraction to one percent. The minimum is always in the generic credit card agreement.

EDIT: Yes, I was referring to most lenders Smiley Happy

Gotcha.

I've been able to get reductions on cards below the published lowest rates. AMEX and BofA are examples.

I guess I stand corrected! Smiley Happy I've not heard of an APR below the minimum
