HSBC has cell phone protection.  Not sure if it's on all cards, but it's on my old Platinum Rewards MC.

I think that is something they just added?, I have (2) HSBC cards (Premier World & Cash Rewards)

and did not notice at first. I just looked, they both have it.

I was thinking the same thing. I learned about from a recent email. Not sure I ever checked before. Good to know it's also on the currently available cards.

Re: CCs that still have Cell Phone Protection?

I've been using my Wells Fargo Cash Back Signature Visa for cell phone protection. Cash back is mediocre at 1%, but I use it for the protection, and as a reason to keep this oldest CC active.

So I was thinking this as well, but it doesnt offer protection right? I tried to dig into the Platinum benefits and i couldn't find anything that said it covered phones, which surprised me if Im honest.

Do you know if Google Fi triggers the 20$?

Re: CCs that still have Cell Phone Protection?

I haven't bought a phone in a while...but I did notice the following from my pile offer cell protection programs:

Wells Fargo (Cash Wise card) - up to $600 protection (subject to a $25 deductible) just for using the card to pay your cell bill

USAA (uses ProtectCell.com -- deductible is high, and there is a monthly cost) doesn't seem to be a card benefit.

Re: CCs that still have Cell Phone Protection?

FYI-

World Elite Mastercards come with cellphone protection:

Coverage for a Stolen or damaged Eligible Cellular Wireless
Telephone is subject to the terms, conditions, exclusions, and
limits of liability of this benefit. The maximum liability is $600
per claim for World Mastercard, and $1,000 per Covered
Card per 12 month period. Each claim is subject to a $50
deductible. Coverage is limited to two (2) claims per Covered
Card per 12 month period.

Correct. The only benefit from Platinum would be 90 days of purchase protection.

There can also be a tradeoff between good benefit terms on paper and the ease of making a claim.

And read the terms closely. Cards may exclude cosmetic damage (cracked screen) if the phone still functions. Cards may exclude lost or stolen phones.

I'm on my fourth smartphone. One was stolen and two became obsolete. A sturdy case has never failed me (and with big hands, a phone's natural size would be so small I coldn't grip it well).
