Like I said. I have been prequalified for the US Bank Cash 365 and platinum with 16% apr. just wondering if the underwriting for the Cash+ is similar to the ones I’m already prequalified for.

If you've been prequalified for those with one APR that low (low being a relative term when we're talking 16%, but these are rewards cards), I would gamble to say that an approval is more likely than not for Cash+ but as FinStar said, none of us can really predict with anything approaching certainly on this.

US Bank can be sensitive to things other lenders aren't, but I did have a ton of new accounts when I got my Cash+ in 2017 ($500 SL but reconned when I received the card to $15,000) and still quite a few within 2 years when I got my Altitude Reserve a few months ago ($14k SL).  My profile is thick and aged and everyone's different, so that doesn't mean they'll just overlook a lot of new accounts but it doesn't mean that's cause for an instant denial, either.  Like many other posters, both of my applications went pending prior to approval.

It sounds like you'd be okay even if they gave you the $500 training wheels limit, and really at this point what's another HP?  If it's going to save you money on utilities and you get a signup bonus, not a whole lot of harm in trying.

I had my eye set on getting the Cash+ For a while now. I have sporadically been checking the prequel site and I have finally been prequalified for either a Platinum VISA and the Cash 365 Amex, but no Cash+. What do you think my odds are of getting approved? I would probably get the famous $500 SL but as long as I get 5% back for utilities I don’t mind. I have opened about 15 accounts since I started my rebuild last November for a little over 100K in credit. I’m at 2% utilization. Transunion is 748 which is what they usually pull in here in CA. All others low 700s. AAoA 1.8 years, inquiries 13 but 7 of them when The dealership shotgunned apps for car loan prior to rebuild 14 months ago. I have 2 car loans with 65K left. Income about 250K, but no relationship with the bank.

OP, I just was approved for this card with 11 new accounts in the past 12 months and I wasn’t prequalified. They pulled Equifax which was a 703. My last inquiry from them was in July. Not sure if this helped but I do also have the Fidelity Visa card that I opened last January. Hope this helps!

Re: US Bank

I have a great relationship with US Bank, They provided me with the loan for my truck and 2 of their "Perks" cards with a combined CL of $24,000. I have been banking with them for around 5 years.

I don't buy stuff unneccesarily, so don't put a whole bunch of spending through my cards - but I have prequallified for another of their cards - I know the Platinum is a basic card, but it has a whole new bunch of 0% (which I like - a lot - and have now exhausted the 0% on my existing cards) I asked the Manager and they don't combine limits and I certainly don't need 3 of their cards.

I am wondering, If i apped for their Platinum card and got a "mediocre" CL - Do you think I would be able to call them and request a say $10k higher limit - If, in turn, I closed my existing 2 cards ($24k cl) with them - therefore, reducing their exposure to me by $14k and giving me a nice limit at 0% in the process? I have tiny balance - so Util is not a consideration / issue. Thanks Smiley Wink

Re: US Bank

chrisw1968uk ... US Bank customer service told me I could not do it. That said, I managed to find a Supervisor and he did exactly what you are thinking. So ... sometimes a "NO" can become a yes. Customer for about six years like you. May be a YMMV situation?

@chrisw1968uk: I am curious to know whether you're successful or not?  DH is in a similar position & hasn't given the though any consideration - as he/we didn't think it was possible.
