I have two USAA cards (full member) AMEX is 1k limit, MC is 4k limit. Both are about 7 months old. On the AMEX i've spent around 6500 dollars and on the MC I've spent 22.5k. I haven't seen any auto CLI so what type of CLI would I be justified in asking for on each?
Both cards have posted a max uti one time at around 50%. The AMEX typically reports with 0 and the the MC reports with about 20%.
Far as I've been told: USAA automatically reviews each account every 6 months to see if it qualifies for a CLI. Any customer-initiated CLI requires an EQ HP.
I've asked on multiple occasions and gotten the same information. I've even dropped the old I'd love to do a BT but the limit isn't high enough line, to no avail.
USAA is relatively conservative (somewhere between PenFed and NCFU). Unless something your credit file has drastically changed in the last 7 months it may not be the best use of an HP.
I was denied a CLI on my 180 days, and when I asked at 1YR my credit limit increased by $200 (to $500). What a waste of a 2 hard pulls.
They're conservative. It's one of the main reasons I've wanted to shift from USAA to NFCU, but when it comes to checking account. USAA pulls ahead.
EDIT: Also a full member.
I have had mine for a year and a half with a 1500 limit and no luck getting it raised. I really do not want to do a HP so it sits like that lol, just to show the difference I have a $10000 limit on my NFCU visa that started out at like 4000 or so.
Don't mind me -- I'm just a partial member, with a 5k card and I've had it for 13 months with no CLI.....I hear it's a HP on EQ usually.
Edit* I too have a checking account and it rocks with no fees!!
Let my just point out that while they are conservative, they also seem to value loyalty. Over the course of 10 years my CLI has grown steadily wihtout me ever asking for a CLI. Also, I got caught in the financial downturn as a full-time student, and when other lenders lowered CLs/jacked rates or both, USAA didn't.

First of all, we have no idea what their underwriting criteria are. Second it's not just about usage. It's about your credit and USAA's criteria. It's impossible to say given the info you've provided. However, I would guess that they aren't going to justify much of a CLI if they haven't auto CLI'ed.

^ This.

I'd agree that unless the OP's credit has drastically improved it's probably not worth the HP. Final call is up to the OP though as worth is a subjective matter.
I feel my limits will grow over the next year. Have cards at $3K and $5K. They just offered me a special rate on BT and spending.
USAA's customer service people are also very nice.
They're conservative? Giving people huge CL's in the first place with imperfect credit? They gave me 7k, when I expected a denial. They tripled my CU's CL. I was floored.
I've seen many, many posters on here that share their almost doubled CLI's and from what I've gathered they prefer very UT (keep under 9%), and more importantly they do not like to see balances on several cards. Keep UT low and let it report on one card and you may have some luck. These are the profiles I've seen where they've doubled their intial CL. I did notice they SP'ed me right at 6 mos. I had done some BT's so I was no where near low UT so maybe next time around.

Were you on active duty at the time? I think they are a little less conservative when they know those DFAS deposits are going to keep rolling in for a while.
