Bloggers are reporting that Strata Premier and Prestige cardholders are the ones impacted by the cash back nerf.  However, those who also hold a true cash back card (like Double Cash and Custom Cash) will be able to combine their points into one TYP account and still redeem at 1 cent per point.

(Update: Workaround) Citi Reducing Citi Strata Premier ThankYou Rewards Cashout Offer (From 1¢ To 0....

This makes sense.  To fully nerf cashback would be to essentially kill off their most popular products and would have led to a massive reduction in swipes for Citi.  They would be nerfing their own profits.

A change to only the CSP is smallest of nerfs.  Nobody cares.

It's not unlike the Rewards+ which, by itself, only redeems TYPs for cash at 0.5 cents each.  When the R+ card is linked to DC or CC, the R+ earns TYPs equal to 1.0 cent each.

Everyday 5% CB:
Chase prime Visa // citi CUSTOM CASH “A” // citi CUSTOM CASH “B” // citi CUSTOM CASH “C” // citi ThankYou (5% gas, lucrative spending offers) // mylowe’s Rewards // Target circle card

Rotating 5% CB:
Chase “OG” freedom Visa // DISCOVER it Cash Back // nusenda CU Platinum Cash Rewards

Everyday 4% CB:
US Bank Smartly (v1.0)

Everyday 3% / 2.2% CB:
AOD FCU Visa Signature (3%, sockdrawered) // upgrade Cash Rewards Elite (2.2%, sockdrawered)

Welcome Offer / credits only:
NFCU FLAGSHIP REWARDS (elevated Welcome Offer, annual prime credit, sockdrawered)

Hotel card:
Chase IHG ONE REWARDS PREMIER (elevated Welcome Offer, 1 free night/yr)

On my radar:
Langely FCU Signature Cash Back (5% CB monthly selectable cat) // Safe CU Cash Back+ (Quarterly rotating 5% CB cats plus bonus cats) // upgrade MyFive Cash Rewards (5% CB monthly selectable cat) // US Bank Kroger (and family) World Elite Master Card(s) (5% CB Mobile Wallet)

...and since I just read here that all the Rewards+ roundup and rebate features are going away in two months — never mind.

Re: Upcoming TYP cashback nerf for Strata Premier

@Patient957This is one reason (as if I didn't have enough already lol) why I've avoided the Amex MR cards since there are no links to CB cards.  One of the reasons I like using my Capital One duo is because Savor (old $95AF version) gets the largest chunk of my spend in most months and while I often move my rewards over to VX, I highly value that flexibility to cash out on Savor at 1cpp if I don't have upcoming travel planned.

Nonetheless, the Citi changes won't impact me since I'm blacklisted for good.
