WaMu Becoming Chase

I know there are 1001 threads on this, and for that reason, I don't remember what thread posed the question of will you automatically get a Chase card, which is considered to be a better card than a WaMu card.  The answer is in a mailing I just received today:

When your existing card expires, you will receive a new Chase card, subject to continuing to meet our credit criteria. 

So that's the answer.  If Chase doesn't like you, they will drop you.

The same mailing answered my own question about Chase's "Flexible points" which do not convert to a cash rebate of 1 point to 1 cent, unless you have 10K points (I do have almost 9K points, and will get 1.4K more points in March/April) so these points are not as good as Chase Freedom points.  I wonder if I could convert.  Does Chase do a hard pull to convert a product like they do for a CLI?

As a side note, I also got a mailing today that my rate on my Chase Toy R Us is going to 15.99% (up from 10.24%).  I'm not going to opt out, as the $30K limit is nearly 33% of my total limits; plus I have a $10K balance on it, but it's at a promotional APR of 3.99% until paid, which supposedly will not be affected.

I logged into my WaMu account, and Chase made me change my username!

I just hope the WaMu card will eventually be accessible through the same account as my three Chase cards.

I would guess that as the conversions of the credit cards and then the banking centers start to take place, at a certain point the WaMu site will become defunct and you will have to go to the Chase website to log in, and that everything would be under the same username and site.  

I'm saying that because Chase has been very clear that they are going to rebrand WaMu and that at a certain point all of the branches/cards will be Chase and WaMu in that form will not exist anymore.  It would be really silly to have the former WaMu accounts go to a completely different website to log in.

Hypothetical question: After Wamu gets completely absorbed by Chase (March-ish), would someone who "lost" their Wamu card and reported it get a Chase card?

Just report the card's magnetic strip as defective to receive a new card.

And yes, if your card is replaced after Chase takes over, your new card will say Chase, not WaMu.

My biggest concern about requesting the Chase card is they'll do a credit check and close my account.

Chase standards are more strict than WaMu.

Then again, they'll probably do it anyway.

They already have...at least they did soft inquiries on my Experian report. I have an old Providian as well as a card directly from Wamu. They did 2 soft pulls almost 2 months ago.

By the way...I still pay both the Providian and the Wamu at the old Providian site!
