My score here on myFICO are EQ 794; TU 783; EX 708.
I have 2 HSBC derogs on credit report that will fall off in October if I don't dispute them (I do have grounds for dispute--CAs have deleted both). I had a major medical disaster in 2006 and everything went to hell. Currently, I have an WF auto loan @ 13.8%, a WF $3000 Rewards CC $0 balance, and a $500 JCP (GE) store card $243 balance, and a $500 PayPal BML $0 balance. Auto reported for 12 months, JCP 2months and PayPal BML is unreported.
Would it be better to wait until after Oct to apply, dispute the HSBC accounts, or just go ahead and apply now? I really want a Discover IT card for the no FT fees. I spend a lot of time out of the country (snowbird/beach house in Mexico).
If I am reading the post correctly some OPs are applying for multiple CCs at the same time with scores lower than mine; and for the most part are getting accepted.
Opinions would be greatly appreciated!

id just apply!
With THOSE scores?????? APPLY!!!!!
Absolutely apply. Worst case scenario you get declined due to the derogs but you should be able to successfully recon those. I suspect though that with your scores, you should be able to get fairly decent cards where ever you apply.
Thank you for your service, Marine!
Also as a bit of unsolicited advice:
I'm unclear about the part where you said you have a basis for a dispute and that the CA's deleted.. if they were deleted then why dispute? Are the back on your reports?
Also, if you're a member of (or willing to join) a CU, you probably should and refi that auto loan at a rate that matches your scores. You could probably join the Navy FCU that every one here is always so happy to talk about (and makes me jealous) I suspect that they'd be very good to you!

I would definitely apply. And thank you for your service!
The debt buyers have deleted the TLs but HSBC the original creditor TLs remain on all three CRs.

Oh that is interesting. I don't know what to suggest for that, but it seems as though you have reason to send a direct dispute.. however, what might come of that, is that the correct the misinformation and then update the reporting... which means you'd still have to pay, or assuming they don't come after you, wait for it to fall off. Either way, I hope it works out for you. ( I might be incorrect but that seems to be my understanding of how that works)
6 yr SOL has expired on both of them.
