I received a walmart mastercard prequal in the mail. 26.99 percent with rewards and access code. It said 3 our of 4 are approved for this mastercard.
How reliable are the walmart mastercard prequal letters? Are they a lot different from pre-approval letters?
If it says 3 out of 4 are approved, you already know Capital One expects to decline about 25% of those they marketed to. For 3 HPs I would pass. Capital One is stingy with CLIs too so this one most likely wouldn't end up being one of your $10K goal cards.
If I were you I would be looking into some CU options.
My mom was instantly approved for $2000 with a 580 vantage score.
I have the Wallmart mastercard that I got back when Synchrony was the bank for the wallmart cards. I would pass on this card at this time, not worth triple hard pull. Cards don't grow that fast with Capital one.

Thank you for the insight. I was hoping that it was a card worth having.

Wow, that is awesome. Do you have more data points about her. 580 vanatage score is consider low correct?

Greatly noted LOL!
Those that have been approved for the Walmart Mastercard or know someone that has been; Can you share what their starting credit limit was.
Cany share what your highest walmart mastercard credit limit is? Thanks
My Walmart SL was $6600. However I got it back when it was issued by Synchrony so I guess the data points are irrelevant. I was rebuilding and had a 660 score. I still have it, but I'd be wary of CapOne. They are VERY stingy the past few years. As far as the mailer is concerned, I would look at it as junk mail. PLUS those guys pull multiple bureaus when you apply so I don't think they're worth it.
I applied for the Capital One Walmart Mastercard in Dec 2019. I was approved and they gave me a 5000 SL and it's a World Mastercard. I already had another credit card with them actually 2 Capital One Quicksilver credit cards that I built credit with them on they were originally platinum then product changed. I guess I was lucky and I'm thankful that Capital One is helping me rebuild my credit but yes Capital One is stingy sometimes to others and I've seen some people only get 300 SL. They are reluctant to increase your credit limit unless you use a big chunk of your credit limit. I love the card only because of the rewards and starting SL they gave me. I have asked for cli but they declined me stating I'm not using enough of the limit. So it's still at 5000.
