Deb68 wrote:I got a pre-approval from Wamu last week (getmyvisa) and went online and it gave me the "2-4 week" message...So, not an instant denial and from what I've read this message usually means approved but the CL is pending.Wonder if anyone else has had this same experience and how much your CL was once you got the card.Right now, I have a Cap 1 $500, Hooters $500, Orchard $300, and Chevron $600....Cap 1, Orchard, and Chevron are 3 years old. One of these days I hope to be in "prime" land. I hope to have at least ONE card with more than a $500 limit.

Called to reconn and was advised their pre-approvals are guaranteed - they request certain criteria from the CRA's ... blah blah blah. She wasn't able to provide the denial reason and also did not open an account for me. The letter stated I was declined due to high balances on my existing cards.I realized AFTER that I did have an Providian account which was closed by credit grantor. Can't remember if it was due to default or if I included it in my Consumer Credit Counseling payoff back in 2000. Regardless, my denial was not due to my previous account.
I am the bad luck queen. Everything positive that happens to other posters I end up getting the exact opposite result (except for BOA ... thank goodness for that). Therefore, since I was declined you will more than likely be approved a great opening tradeline

I don't have that great of luck either so I STILL won't get my hopes up....
