Welcome BmoreScore,
Have you looked at the Credit Card Center here onsite? Or is this the link you're talking about?

At this point I only have one card, the Cap one Platinum with a 1500 CL. I have been paying in full every month a day or two prior to their reporting day (the 19th for me). I would like a revolving rewards card (increase my overall CL) but it seems like a long shot. I aim to eliminate use of my debit card and instead gain rewards for my monthly 3-4k monthly expenses, so a charge card from Amex for instance could be a solution. I have just had a hard time getting an approval for something because of the 60 days from 5 years ago (3 inquiries in two years and one approval for 500 cl). Not exactly looking to gamble, but I will keep everyone posted on what I do in hopes it helps someone else. Anyone with a rewards card approval who matches my description from the original post would help me and others...
this is where I went http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Cards/Online-PreQualify-Sites/td-p/177684
and clicked on" have you been pre selected?"

Yes, I have been there before. It is a nice database, according to the FICO range I would not qualify for a Gold or Platinum Amex. There seems to be some nice options though. I guess the purpose of this thread was to find out what people have been approved for in like circumstances (can income overcome mistakes from 5 years ago?) and to get advice. I have some more homework to sort through. Thanks all

you'll definitely make your goal of 800
Ty ^_^ My util has never passed 30% in a single month (Only time it has gotten close was a 1,500 matress that my parents made me buy cause I was in 2x points bonus period.. when I first got the card, after that the most I've been at is around 7%)

Okay, well, if you have 1,500 you don't mind locking up (to avoid fees, or you could just switch banks..) I'd open up a basic checking account at Chase and apply for the Freedom card at the same time. Bring in a printout of the 200 for 500 offer and apply in a branch. They'll help you with the application process. Personally, I love Chase ever since I went there to apply and opened checking. The people are so nice and the customer service is top notch, even without going for the Sapphire line of cards.
HSBC with thier Premier (100k to avoid fees, I'm linked with my parent's CDs and investments) customer service doesn't even match Chase, 80% of the time I get foreign CSRs that do the whole "Peggy" thing..
For those who don't know what "Peggy" is..
@Anonymous wrote:I am a member of M&T Bank and it does say FICO from EQ on the page. The score has steadily risen over the last few months after I discovered it is best to PIF vs carry a balance. I am hoping for a score on Jan. 5 closer to 700. I want a rewards card to use instead of my debit for obvious reasons. My research has lead me to believe a charge card may not benefit me long term since they do not report or have a CL (wont improve FICO).
Im good. lol
