Denied!!!!! I will have to call them on Monday
You'll do fine if you're calm and polite while talking with them (sometimes it's hard to hear them with those headsets and it's frustrating). I think if there's any chance of approval you'll get it monday. If not (I'd still be kind of surprised if you don't get it) wait a couple months and re-apply onilne (I didn't like the 200\500 offer myself so didn't mind waiting much).

niiice! I thought they didn't accept applicants that have collections on their CR.
I have two paid collections and got an AMEX. It's a case by case basis. Mine collections are 3+ years old.

Not sure how AMEX feels about inquiries. I got approved with several inquiries however I had to recon with the Executive office. I was originally declined with a score of 709 on EX. AMEX is a strange beast but I love their products.
I did read on here that someone did get a Zync iwth 27 inqs on Experian, so it's possible
Sorry that they declined you.....Iike the others, I'm guessing that they didn't like the inquiries. I also agree that you should recon the denial.
You can check your application online here: https://www262.americanexpress.com/eaol/welcome.do?inav=open_applicationstatus
They will show your decline letter on~line and you can see the reason(s) listed, along with your FICO score.
@chris2k5 wrote:Can anyone give a good tutorial on how to recon? I have tried reconning 2 times before with no success and I feel like I always do it wrong.
You clla the recon line and make a case as to why they should give you a card. Be genuine...don't get too mushy on them

It will have ot be a manual review. Their is programmed to reject or acept based on some requirements. So I'm sure you will have better luck with a person.
Ok. I checked the status, and it reads declined but says this:
However, during the online application process you elected to accept our offer of another ZYNCSMCard product. The ZYNC Card that you selected has the following features:
Requires Payment through AutoPay, which authorizes American Express to withdraw your full monthly payment directly from your bank account. This automatic feature helps you avoid late or missed payments. You will receive a $10 credit on your first billing statement as an incentive for enrolling.
A $500 spending limit on your ZYNC Card account that cannot be exceeded.
The Account information and Pack choices we have from your original application will carry over. Instant account and pay over time features will not be available for this Card. Also, account acquisition incentives such as bonus point offers do not apply.
To complete your application, please provide all of the information requested on the enclosed form, which includes enrollment in AutoPay, and return it to us within 30 days of the date on this letter. Fax this form directly to us at 801-945-2884, or mail to the address below and keep a copy for your records :

Now I didn't recieve this as an email, and there is no "attachment" linked to the status... Uggh going to need to call on monday to get this sorted out -.-
Here are the reasons, I didn't get an "Unrestricted" Card
We evaluated your application using a credit scoring system that considers various pieces of information, including your credit report. The following key factors contributed to our evaluation:
Length of time accounts have been established (Trans Union)
Too many recent credit checks (Trans Union)
In our estimation, the amount you have paid on your bank and retail credit card accounts over the last twelve months is too low. (Experian)
Your FICO? score (See below)
Information About Your FICO? Score
We obtained your FICO score from Trans Union and used it in making our credit decision. Your FICO score is a number that reflects the information in your credit report. Your FICO score can change, depending on how the information in your credit report changes. On January 06, 2012, your FICO score was 670. The FICO score ranges from 300 to 850. The following are the key factors that contributed to your FICO score:
Length of time accounts have been established.
Proportion of revolving balances to revolving credit limits is too high.
Proportion of loan balances to loan amounts is too high.
Too many inquiries last 12 months.
Take this offer and run with it. Eventually they will switch this $500 hard limit to NPSL. It's your foot in the door. Use the card well and they will treat you well.
