(Mod Cut)  Your history probably swayed it in the end though as you figured.

That is great for you that you got approved, regardless of the advice given to you here. (Mod Cut)

Re: What FICO model does CAPITAL ONE pull ??

To me, I like to get things "on my own merit" so freezing EQ so that they couldn't see it is not something I would ever do. I would almost feel like I cheated to get a card. There's a reason it cannot be discussed here (Mod Cut) Alas, you did what you did and you got the card.

Nobody is trying to be negative. We are trying to help you. There are no shortcuts in the credit journey that do not eventually catch up with you. Good luck with your new card. Had you waited and built your history, you could have obtained it with any report being accessible and had nothing to hide. But nobody wants to be patient. Best of luck.

Re: What FICO model does CAPITAL ONE pull ??

Kdm thanks for your candor. What I find interesting is that nobody here knows why any one person wants or needs credit .. They assume things.

I have learned WONDERFUL things here and have posted numerous posts thanking you all. I think you're all wonderful and smart. However, being patient is not a virtue all people have .. I appreciate it, but I also think that a lender pulling all three burueas is very unjust to the consumer and puts unnecessary weight on ones files. It just doesn't seem fair which is why no other lenders do it (that I've seen). In corporate America we get bonked everyday by big businesses - the consumer has the right to protect himself from what he seems unnecessary or unfair especially in terms of one's credit and finances.

When a bank opens a checking for you, they don't pull all three bureaus, Chexsystems, and your drivers license information, and run a background check. Why? Because it's overkill and unnecessary, and I'm hardly the only one who thinks so. Capital One has been moving away from this practice too from what I hear.

Thank you for the kind words just know where I'm coming from before you all throw in two cents. :-). Thank you

Actually, Chase, Discover, AmEx, and a few others have been known for pulling all three when a prospective applicant is very much borderline.

tuolumne Ive never heard of such with these lenders. Double pulls yes, havent seen triple much less enough consistency for them to be known to do this. Then again Ive only been around for about a year and anything is possible...but still.

Re: What FICO model does CAPITAL ONE pull ??

Double is much more common but sometimes triple is unavoidable. You can't be too picky when the alternative is a big fat decline.

Re: What FICO model does CAPITAL ONE pull ??

This thread is now closed to further discussion as the OP has achieved his goal of getting the card. People throw around the word "unethical" and that tends to bring out very strong emotions. While I myself at one point did use it I have learned that there is a more subtle word that can be used in its place and that word is "taboo" it doesnt elicit as strong an emotional response and everyone knows what "taboo" means. Ethics can be very complicated and conflicting between different individuals. With this having been said what is the taboo here on myFico is the advocation of freezing one report over another in an attempt to get a creditor to pull a more favorable report, merely making a statement that I froze X report isnt a TOS violation it is accepted as a statement of fact. I hope this gives everyone a clear understanding on the subject.
