I applied for the Cash Back Rewards card last August(right before Labor Day weekend) and surprisingly(didn't think I was going to be approved) got a $4k SL.
Not huge by any means, but good enough for me, DP at time of app was somewhere around 660's across the board on all 3 CRA's, 1 severe derog with multiple 60+ lates (back from 2015w/ cap 1)
I also have been with them since 2010 banking wise(checking/savings), but ironically as of late they are really irritating me enough that i'm looking at Local credit unions(im in northern va) to move my checking/savings to and just keep my CC with them

I did the same with BMO in order to get their credit products.
Funny I was just looking at Fifth Third Bank (again) and I came across this old post of you mentioning them. Are they geofenced or can anyone get one of their CCs?

53 bank is geofenced.
Their StandUp2Cancer card was not geofenced back when I got it but I understand even that has changed.

Thanks @coldfusion , who do they cater to then? What States?
Can't tell you exactly but if you took a map and drew a line from Florida through Georgia and up to Michigan that gives you an ides of the area that they service.

You're pretty much dead on. I checked their site and I found this (unfortunately that leaves me out):

That is a very apt description. I was going to list the states, but to better illustrate it, I made a map:
Edit: Oops, I got scooped while I made the map.
Ok somethings not right there. lol
I have PNC banks all over the place in Alabama.
What state are you in again?
Did you try filling out the PNC application to see if it would kick you out?
Ok scratch that I'm thinking PNC and not Fifth Third.
@Wavester64 have you ever considered Union Bank? They don't seem to be geo fenced.

Do they offer a good credit product? 🙂
