Re: What are the chances of Chase creating a new credit card?

For lenders to bring out a new card, there normally needs to be a need for one. The Starbucks card was mentioned, most likely since Starbucks is more of a expensive product as is, the market it attracts and generally the people may have a higher income. So in that case, with the benefits Starbucks is given, it was worth it to open a Starbucks branded CC. On that note, it may not be worth it for us to use since the benefits it gives are average if best.

From my understanding of Chase and lenders in general, unless it's something useful and others have not done it, or something they can profit on, I don't see why they would create a new card. Judging by Chase's arsenal at this time, a decent amount of stuff is covered.

Re: What are the chances of Chase creating a new credit card?

Yes, I agree with you. The majority of co branded cards do not offer anything more than what some of our premium cards already offer.

Also, I just looked at the Starbucks tiers, 1 "star" for every $4 spent!? I mean, I don't even drink coffee, but if I did... that still wouldn't sound tempting enough for me to apply for that particular card.

But I guess that's where branding, marketing and advertising comes into play, I applied for the cash magnet simply because my amex hilton aspire did not look American express enough

Lol

So, with that being said, I can see someone applying for the Starbucks card simply to have a starbucks card and because of what it looks like / how it is designed.

I also see what you mean by cc companies teaming up with other organizations in which they feel the target market can/will increase their bottom line.

Thank you for the great observations and information

We can wll dream. My dream is a new wf card with a good permemanent grocery category, or a somthing close to citi dc, or paypal 2%. With my relationship with wf, i figure I could get a good cl.

I think this is where I am at. I would love to see Chase have something that covers the gap with groceries and streaming items/cable/phone. I really use the 5% from Amazon (Whole Foods, Prime Grocery). But something that gives me more freedom (pun not intended) to other grocery venues would be great.

Re: What are the chances of Chase creating a new credit card?

there has been rumor floating around about a reserve level business card.  the glaring omission is that the ink preferred does not capture restaurant expense or pp, so what they have is a group of folks, like me, that keep the csr around for that purpose.  they probably cannot figure out how to get the ink sorted without everyone dumping their csrs which is what I would do in a heartbeat

Hmmm. It could happen but I kind of doubt it. Chase has a good lineup with which it can shun people lol

don't doubt it, they matched the fu with the ciu, a reserve level adjustment on the biz side makes perfect sense.  there are other issues as well, like ftf's on nearly all their cards.  I like chase, I have 8 pieces of plastic w them but they are far from perfect

Re: What are the chances of Chase creating a new credit card?

I heard of the no annual fee Marriott coming out in the summer but I don't think it's gonna be worth it, I actually just stayed in one in Vegas and the food was okay, not better than IHG nor Hyatt. It was nice tho. Not a fan of Marriott anyway lol. Since it won't have no free night but I did thought about getting just to get it cause I got a Hilton no annual fee which I don't even use it anymore but have it back in '16. And IHG and Hyatt just to complete the series of hotel cards lol.

However, I did read on DOC that they will be having new cards by the end of the year, not sure if it will be from Chase. But I'm looking for a replicate copy of the propel from WF to Chase lol

Since, the Green card will be postpone, now I'm not even looking forward to the card anymore lol. I am also looking to get the cash Ink card tho, that would be my last Chase card and application as I go under 5/24 and beyond. I also thought about getting the SW credit card too but I'm seeing how I could maximize it.

Re: What are the chances of Chase creating a new credit card?

The Starbucks card is even worse than that.
You get 1star at Starbucks, and more stars if you load to a Starbucks gift card, but you get those two stars from the gift card no matter where the gift card is reloaded from.

Then, Starbucks recently nerfed their entire stars program, so that 1 Star per $4 general spend got even less valuable, if that is possible.

Chase may come out with something new, but their lineup is so full, hard to see where a new card would make a dent in anyone’s earnings.

Re: What are the chances of Chase creating a new credit card?

Not sure if you’re going for the UR for travel or for cash back? If maximizing UR for travel, I would definitely recommend getting all 3 Ink cards and then the SW Biz to pair with a personal SW card for CP.
