Re: What is the ultimate trophy card for the average every-day person?

Chase Sapphire Preferred in the lead (due to the design of the card itself), with American Express Platinum and Amex PRG (if you don't want the Plat's $450 AF and crappy rewards) following. The CSP has a look unlike any other card that the "average man" can get a hold of, which screams to the unwashed masses the question, "Is that one of those cards you can buy a Lamborghini with?" - even if it's not, in reality.

I have the PRG and several Amex revolvers, and used to have the CSP but was denied when I applied for it again recently (cancelled due to AF and no retention bonus).

Re: What is the ultimate trophy card for the average every-day person?

The best card I have right now is SDFCU.  It has a permanently low APR, rewards I like, no fees, and an EMV chip.  My ultimate goal is to someday get a PenFed Platinum Rewards card, which really isn't significantly better than the SDFCU card, but I would be proud to have a rewards card from PenFed.

Amex ED $19.5k - BoA Travel Rewards $15k - CSP $5k - SDFCU EMV $15k - NFCU goRewards $20k - Barclays Arrival $6.5k

Chrysostom I agree I love the look of my Chase Sapphire. I enjoyed using it the first month I got it, and customer service is wonderful.

Good answer

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

CSP, BCE/BCP, Amex PRG or Platinum. None of them are hard to get, but people always seem to flock to those.

@CreditScholar

Let's be real. Anyone with less than a good credit can't get those cards and that many people. Alot of people are either in debt, don't have the knowledge about credit or just don't know how to handled credit hence this forum. I had tried for the AMEX 3x times before I received it and I had good to great credit for over 2 years straight. Very few have 800 credit like you. Smiley Frustrated

Re: What is the ultimate trophy card for the average every-day person?

Sure, I'll be real here. There are numerous reports of 22 year olds (or close), many fresh out of college with mediocre incomes, getting approved for each of those cards. The threshold for each of those seems to be a FICO of ~700, and a moderate income (40-50k or more). Frankly that's not all that hard. A 700 FICO is easily doable as long as someone hasn't screwed up their credit in the past. 1-2 years of good payment history and a couple of moderate TLs will accomplish this. I wouldn't call that difficult in the slightest.
