PS, I wasnt aware that there was a no AF Sapphire option.

Ya can still PC to if you choose but obviously without AF no transfers out and believe 2% on restaurants vs 3% of CSP, etc.  They stopped offering it for applications many many years ago at least 7-10 IIRC.  My CSP is still one of my main goto cards due to only 99 AF and 50/yr hotel credit and primary rental car insurance and decent restaurant at 3% more due to UR and transfer out to Hyatt etc.  Put at leaset 1k /mo on it of cat spend.  My Altitude GO/AR migt be able to beat it on % basis but value UR's especially transfers to Hyatt a lot more thus my food card.

I just added DGAC to my Quicksilver title tag in my signature. Now I need a name for my BCE and Hilton cards. I use those, but never carry them because they are for online/special purposes only. Suggestions?

@Varsity_Lu

Years ago,  I used to have a FOLO card set aside to be used For On-Line Only.

OSPO  is not  bad @Tdatb64 .

As an aside, I know that many establisments will use a pseudo name that appears on your cc statements/receipts....

Please just stop trying to coin acronyms.  It's not going to happen.

Re: What is your “DGAC” card?

PCR. Stuck at my SL of 2.5k, almost 8 years old no means to increase the CL now. never wanted a HP CLI before august, and was hoping for a Auto CLI, used all of the limit in the past multiple times, partial and PIF payments, DD to checking, so they could see my income. replaced it with a 20k SL Active Cash with WF getting DD now, and now has a 25k limit. Eventually the smartly will replace this and AC will be SD so long as Smartly isnt nerfed. PenFed may get permanent deletion once loan is paid off. not sure.

Amazon. Stopped shoping there to save money, canceled prime 2 years ago or so and thats helpful but it is nice to shop on amazon, so its not a permanent decision. 23.5k limit now. I used a BT offer last year, that was helpful, so last year it wasnt dormant.

AmEx BCP 30k
EveryDay 11.5K
Discover 29k
Wells Fargo AC 25k
Chase Amazon 23.5k
US Bank Cash+ 20K
Cash+#2 14.4K
Citi Simplicity 13.6K
Smartly Visa 17k SL
BILT 18k SL
PenFed Loan $708/8k

Re: What is your “DGAC” card?

I got that Sapphire card when I moved my checking account to chase. I think it was a time when they were offering it as a lower tier than Sapphire preferred. As far as I know it's not offered anymore but they haven't asked me to change.

Yep, it was (is) the no-AF version of the CSP, with less benefits/rewards.  Unless Chase has a policy change you should be allowed to hang onto it for as long as you want, but I'm not sure why you would want to (either Freedom card is arguably a better option).

In the past another use for the Sapphire was to use as a go-between for a PC.  Many years ago when someone wanted to downgrade their CSP sometimes the Freedom wouldn't be an option, but the Sapphire (no-AF) would be.  The trick was to PC to the Sapphire, then a PC to a Freedom would be an option from there (folks would sometimes do this before the new Sapphire card was even received in the mail).

Thankfully that is no longer a thing, or at least I've not heard of it being an issue in a very long time.  I know in my own case a few years back when I wanted to downgrade my own CSP I was able to PC directly to a Freedom.

Re: What is your “DGAC” card?

I don't have a DGAC card. It's always annoying dealing with fraud no matter the card so SD cards get locked now unless the option simply doesn't exist to do so.

Re: What is your “DGAC” card?

Now I have the Smartly earning 4%, in theory I would be happy with just 3: Smartly, Amazon and Altitude Reserve (We spend enough at Amazon/Whole Foods and on mobile pay to make the extra 0.5-2% worthwhile, but at a pinch they could go).  So the capped 5% cards, and 2-3% would all be DGAC.

But, if Smartly was nerfed enough, in particular a cap on 4% earning, I would want at least some of those cards again.   So I am keeping them.   They are more DGACU..." where the U... is "unless"!

Re: What is your “DGAC” card?

This doesn't make sense to me.

If there's fraud on a card then it still needs to be addressed and handled. What benefit is there to using a lesser card at a shady business?

All of my main cards can be replaced within 24 hours so I don't see the need to pretend there's a throwaway card that doesn't matter if it's compromised. When I travel internationally I just carry a no FX fee backup card in my luggage in the event I'm robbed/lose my wallet and phone.

Open lines of credit are never a "don't give a crap" situation since you're just as liable as any other form of debt.

Current active cards:
Amex - Platinum, BCE
BofA - Unlimited Cash Rewards Sig
Chase - CSR, Amazon Prime
Citi - Custom Cash, Costco Visa
TCL - $270k
CC utili - 2%
Experian - 804

@dfwxjer

Well if the card in question get compromised, then you cannot use it after it is reported  or the issuer realizes such.    You have to wait for the replacement to arrive.   Think about this scenario if you are overseas....   DGAC card is a great option here.

PS, Cardholders are not responsible for Fraudulent charges for most issuers.  Some may have you pay the first $50.
