They recently expanded another 12 or 16 pumps at costco near my work..Place use to be crazy busy now with more pumps usually only 1 or 2 cars in front of you and only 1.5 miles from my office. works out perfect whenever i just stop by during lunch while at the office weekly.
Is DU 5% at Costco and Sam's? It doesn't code as "warehouse store" and get counted as non-category spend? Asking For A Friend.

Fort Knox Federal Credit Union 5% cash back. No AF.

Currently I don't have any of these cards and use either my AMEX BCE for gas (3% cash back) or my Discover IT card (5% cash back in certain quarters). I apped for the Ducks Unlimited card (5% cash back) but was denied for too many inquiries.
Are the cash back cards are the best bet for gas purchases? Or are the benefits of some oil company cards attractive enough to warrant getting them?
For example, I see Shell is offering a SUB on its Fuel Rewards MC that pays $0.30 off per gallon for the first 5 tanks by the end of June. After that, the discount is $0.10 per gallon on every fill. Shell's MC is issued by Citibank. Chevron's Techron Advantage VISA card pays $0.20 off each gallon at Chevron and Texaco stations for the first 90 days, after which the discount falls to between $0.03 and $0.20 per gallon, depending on your non-gas spending. Chevron's cards are issued by Synchrony Bank, about which I've read mixed reviews... What do you think?
I use the 5% rotating categories from Chase Freedom and DISCOVER IT, and if not available, my PNC Cash Rewards card for 4% for the first $8000/yr. But recently, Wells Propel offered 15% back for up to $40 in rewards in June. I filled up several times and got the rest on gas cards. $40 for June. Then they offered 10% cash back up to $40 in rewards in July, so I bought $400 in gas cards. In August, 10% back, up to $40 in rewards, one purchase only. Bought $400 in cards, another $40 in rewards. That's on top of the 3% on gas purchases, so it was $52 back for each $400 in purchases. I still have about $600 in gas cards, and the gas station chain typically is one of the lowest priced gas stations in the area. So it was a nice $150 back for gas.

https://www.costco.com/executive-rewards.html
In the U.S., Rewards are not calculated: (i) on purchases of cigarettes or tobacco-related products, gasoline, Costco Shop Cards, postage stamps, alcoholic beverages in certain states (including Alabama, Connecticut, Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee), and at food courts; (ii) on membership fees; (iii) on purchases not recorded through Costco’s front-end registers and transactions done on or through websites not hosted by Costco even if accessed through Costco.com, including all business, consumer, and insurance services, the Online Photo Center, and the My Publisher website; (iv) on miscellaneous fees, deposits and taxes, including sales tax and shipping; (v) where prohibited by law or regulation; (vi) on purchases made by anyone other than the account’s Primary or Primary Household Cardholder; (vii) on travel purchases: surcharges, gratuities, trip protection, travel purchased through a third party, upgrades, rental car equipment, resort charges and port charges; and (viii) on certain other categories as determined at Costco’s discretion, which may change without notice.
That is regarding 2% executive membership rebate, not for the cash back from using the Costco visa.
The Fort Knox Federal Credit Union Platinum Visa has 5% cash back with no cap. I don't have a specific gas card, however if i wanted one this is the route i think i'd go.

Getting into Fort Knox is easy. The bullion depository is the tricky bit.
